Bruins to Sign Kessel?

Recommended Posts

Right, because Kariya was so terrible when he left college after only one year.     Kessel has excelled at every level he has played at.  He played against pros in the world championships and didn't look out of place at all.

Didn't see the world championships, but Paul Kariya almost single handedly won the NCAA championship. He got the hobey freakin baker after a year. What kessel did does not compare to that. Kariya also played for the canadian national team for a year after his freshman year. Kessel is trying to go straight to the show.

Singlehandedly? I guess Ingraham and Montgomery were just brutal. The Ferraro brothers were no good. Snow and Dunham were average goalies. Kariya played with the Canadian National team because he wanted to play in the '94 Olympics and it was still amateur only at the time.

can someone explain why they are comparing kessel to modano and kariya. Kessel, is a good player at best, only reason his stock skyrocketed was because of a trick against sweden. I cant wait for his queer little toe drag move and for someone to just dummy him

I thought they said it was HIGHLY UNLIKELY that an 18 year old from this years draft would make the NHL next season

He's an American, he can go to the AHL. Just because he signed a contract doesn't mean he made the team yet.

Not until they run out of junior eligibility. Special consideration was given to a couple players during the lockout.

Is it a matter of NCAA vs. Major Junior or is it a USA and canada thing? If a canadian signed to an NHL team after freshman year at age 19, and gets cut from the NHL, would they send him to a major junior team?

The Canadian would have to play for the NHL team or report to whatever junior team holds his rights. Assuming he was still eligible to play in the OHL/WHL/Q

Fleury played in the AHL playoffs in 2003-04 after being sent back to juniors??

A player can play in the AHL after his season is complete as long as they have either been drafted or old enough to be. They may or not be signed by an NHL team. Lots of junior players made the jump to the AHL this season as their junior one ended.
