5-alarm fire pictures

Recommended Posts

On Sunday, there was a huge fire that totally destroyed 3 businesses in the town of Oaklyn, NJ. My uncle worked there for a number of years, and now is out of a job. My friend hooked me up with a site of many many pictures from the scene. I was there myself for two hours, and it was horrific. You couldn't really breathe, and the smoke was just so heavy. My friend was there for 10 hours, all of that fighting the blaze. Here's some pics

Crazy

The first 3pictures are from the Ben Franklin bridge that connects Philly to New Jersey.

I'd like to see the other side of that 95' platform that was parked in front of the overhead doors in the shot where it looks like the roof just collapsed. Hopefuly they got it moved in time.

I was thinking the same thing....Looked like it was to close to that building...And the paint on those cars parked in front of the garage doors probubly got a little hot as well....Great photos, thanks for sharing

OK nothing funny about this but the 6th picture into the series is kind of funny-see the sign that says "We buy houses-any condition-any situation"

Thank a fire fighter-they do one hell of a job!!

Hmmmmmmm-New Jersey-Vending Company.........No " Family " business here is there?

Looks like something out of "Goodfellas" or the like

:o was anyone in any of the buildings

Luckily, each of the 3 businesses close their doors on Friday, so no one was in the houses. Two houses nearby were evacuated though, including my friend Mike's house, which is located right next to the building. They were there all throughout the night putting out hotspots and whatever was still burning. Once they got it all out and inspected, they tore the whole thing down. The roof did collapse.

The carrying embers from the fire also ignited a small fire in a lumberyard in the same town that had to be put out by firefighters also. I think I may take a bike ride up there this afternoon before I go to hockey camp to see all the rubble and stuff.

That's a pretty big blaze. I remeber one time there was this apartment building buing built and I went into Superstore for about 15 minutes and when I came out I thought oh man is it ever hot out when I looked over and saw the whole building was on fire and the heat I was feeling was coming from there evn though it was about 250 feet away from me. It was huge. It was an entire high-rise apartment builidng on fire.
