NEW GRAF G5 ULTRA

Recommended Posts

I wonder how they look in Great White?

Check the Euro Graf catalog, I think they have a few different types including GW

What is the Euro web address?

I might actually pick up a pair this weekend when I go up to Boston.  Does anyone from the area know if Pure Hockey (Marlborogh) carries the Ultras?

The Braintree location is probably closer. I would email them to find out.

I'm not sure where that one is... I'll try and find it, thanks whbd. BTW I'm going up for a tournament, are you playing one this weekend?

Are you sure your not going to marlborough? I know my friend is in a midget aaa tourney at the new england sports center this weekend and if you are at that tournament purehockey's pretty much right across the street.

Yeah that's the one I'm going to, which is why I asked about the Marlborogh location. I'll probably go into Boston when I'm not playing, so I'll probably check out Braintree as well. Also, does anyone know what either location has in the way of Vapor XX sticks?

What team does your friend play on? My team's going to get blasted, we're only AA...

To A2rhino, its www.grafskates.com

Braintree is right outside of Boston, about 15 minutes away . Where Marlboro is about 40+ min away.

Here is a rough estimate of directions:

Boston to Braintree Pure Hockey

Is your tournament in Marlboro or in Boston? Which rink?

Yeah, sorry for the confusion, it's in Marlborogh, but I plan on venturing into Boston at one point this weekend.

you could always change the tounge if yuo dont like it

how much do these bad boys weigh? the only reason i switched from grafs to vapor xxx's was weight.. but my xxx's are shot now and im regretting the decision.

are they as lite as the vapors?

Not to change the subject but I have read on this site about a lot of people changing the tongue on their skates. Where do you get replacement tounges and who do you have do them for you?

x2?

my friend plays for the new england junior falcons 18U, who do you play for?

I'm on the NJ Colonials U18.

Back on topic, I tried the Ultras on today, and they felt amazing right out of the box. Weight-wise, they are on par with Vapors, maybe slightly heavier going by feel alone, but I don't know the actual numbers... Hopefully, I'll get a pair of these and post a review after a while.

you're playing them tonight, i wish i could go but my parents are going to a wedding and i'm only 15 so i can't drive.

anyways, are grafs that much different than bauers or other skates? alot of people that i talk to say that grafs are terrible, never get them, but some people love them and wouldn't wear anything else. is that how it usally is everywhere? people either love 'em or hate 'em? i'd like to try them but i don't wanna spend $500 and end up hating them.

This new model is somewhere between a traditional skate and a kor or one90.

Thanks Chadd. I really want to see these. Is the fit similar to the g3?

Also, I went to the EURO grafskate web page. Would I be able to order these in the black and grey ultra G70 from the plant in AB. if I decided on these?

It's a 705/G5 fit

Yeah, that is what it looks like. I admit I don't know anything about this skate but it sure doesn't look like a 703 fit. Looks like it has some massive volume...

Can somebody please compare the pitch of the One90 versus the G5?

G5 is more forward, like any other Graf skate

I realize that the G5 has the same pitch as any other Graf skate what I meant to ask was how much more of a pitch does the g5 have compared to the one90 have?

Edit; A lot? A Little?

Hi Chadd,

They don't carry Kor's in quebec and I was wondering which skate you thought was a better skate. I realize it's a matter of personal preference but you know know more about skates than I.

I can't really say. The Graf model at the show was not a final production model and I've never used the one90 or Graf. I have used the Kor and I like a lot of things about them but they caused me some discomfort. I've always been a believer in not buying brand new models so any problems can be worked out.

Thanks Chadd,

I appreciate the input.

I wonder if the g3 ultra is on the drawing board?

I would imagine you will see one eventually, if the G5U sells well. At the show I was told by a couple people at Graf that the 705/G5 is the proper fit for 70% of people. Hence the G5U being the first model offered
