NEW GRAF G5 ULTRA

Recommended Posts

I just got my G5 Ultra and they are amazing. Very comfortable and light. But i have a quick question. Can I get them baked and how long do I need to bake them for?

I had to order them online and my team has a skate oven in our locker room.

Thanks

Hi, I'm in vector pro's size 11E and they are kind of narrow in the heel. would 11W be the proper fit for me in the G5U/705. I really want graf's for my next skates, but nowhere to try them on around here.

I think I was a half size up in Grafs compared to CCMs but you need to try at least some version of the 705/G5 before you buy them.

Thanks Chadd,

I appreciate the input.

I wonder if the g3 ultra is on the drawing board?

for the 07 year they will be releasing an ultra G3 and an ultra G35(hopefully with cobras), but as for comparisons between the one90 and the grafs, I find the grafs alot easier too break in where the one90 still breaks in fairly easy its a stiffer boot and theres been a few issues like any new skate. The only issue with the ultra g5 is the lining and them not stitching right close too the top of the tendon guard there stitching it about less than a pinky nail size down from the top of the tendon guard

Thanks sogaduch.

I just came back from my lhs. I was getting concerned my skates (704) were finished so I showed them to the guy there and he told me I could wait another 6 months.

He also confirmed the release of the ultra g3 and suggested I wait rather than buy anything else. That's pretty high praise coming from one of the most knowledgeable shops in the city.

His next skates are going to be the ultra g5. His only issue was the tongue. He would have preferred felt.

I'm not sure I like the embossed sides or the shape of the tendon guard. I think I would have kept it square.

I know a lot of good skaters that tape their ankles like kovalev.

I guess those are minor concerns.

I'm glad they're all black.

Regarding the one90 skate he said that it will take the shape of your foot but he made an interesting point about the shape of the foot changing shape as you skate.

And in his opinion the grafs can be more easily adjusted.

Metro, I have something for you, just wait another 3-4 days and I'll email you, because I don't have much time right now.

I'm David BTW. Kovy ribs' brother. I met the graf guy a few days back. BTW the new tendon guard is what I am getting on my new skates. The new garf are really nice in person...

so, the 700 series has legendary durability. the original G series had some durability issues. have these issues been resolved with the new ultra G series, or not?

and, are the ultra G5's worth $200 more than the 705's?

so im breaking in my new G5 Ultra's but whenever I skate in them, my heel slips a little bit. is this normal? I've been skating in 705 and G5's for as long as I can remember but I haven't had a new pair in awhile so I cant remember if that happened before. will this go away when they are fully broken in?

any suggestions on how to stop this would help.

Thanks

ak27, lol, perfect.

I've been watching an older version of you at the habs training camp.

IMO you're going to be better.

Looking forward to seeing what your new skates look like.

I understand you being busy and all.

Have a good one Friday.

so, I've got some vectors (actually pf10's) in size 11E and they are kind of narrow in the heel, and I probably should have gotten the 10.5's. anyway I'm a beer leauguer who hasn't played ice in a couple of years(but I rollerblade year round). I'm looking for new ice skates and have been interested in graf's for quite a while, but had nowhere to get them. now my LHS (1 hour away) carries graf, but they don't want to order in a bunch of skates for me to try on. But! I called them the other day and they just happened to get in a pair of 705's in 11W. I had to make a trip over there to try them on. so, today I went and tried them on. a little snug width wise, but they assured me they would mold to my feet after a short time. length was almost perfect, in fact I wanted to try a 10.5 but they didn't have any.

so, I think I'm gonna go back and get them, it's either that or V10.0's size 10.5E.

what do you guys think?

I just got custom G5 Ultras about a 2 weeks ago. Put my number on the outer outside, and name on the back, and puting the older tongue on it with white on the two outer strips leather. They said graf wasnt puting white on the boot. not even for pros. They should be in for Christmas.

why is it that so few websites actually sell graf skates?

especially if they are that good

Because Graf won't let them screw local shops and they're a pain to deal with.

Could you elaborate a little more djinferno?

I like the skate and the liner has given me no trouble. However, the liner is a little slippery.

the ones i saw feel like cotton with holes in it...

forget about wearing those bearfoot...

i was a fan of the swede like material before, they feel like a bad sponge now...

My son wears them barefoot and loves them.I find they dry much more quickly then the clarino.I do find the finishing a bit shoddy(some stitching uneven too) but worth it for the lightness. His G9s took forever to dry and were really heavy.
