Kovalev #124 : ouch, impossible

Your right, he shouldnt even be on the list.

As I can see, you're a football fans right?

Kovy, although I am a Habs fan, Kovalev won't be far up on the list. He'll be average as he's always been since he stopped playing with Jarg, Lemieux and Straka.. he'll more than likely get 50-60 points and there are tons of players averaging that and many who will do more hence is predicted ranking by ESPN. I've seen 3 pool books and that espn ranking thing and none of them are even close to one another in terms of predictions. Take it with a grain of salt. Their predictions are usually not any better or worse than us fans who eat and sleep hockey.

Unless "time spent with puck" is added onto scoring sheets, I don't see Kovalev's worth in a fantasy pool. As usual, he's just too inconsistent.

He leads the league in posts every year too. I've never seen somone hit so much iron, if he could convert half of those shots into goals and he'd lead the league every year.

This is not true. He had his best moment with Lang a couple of season, he wasn't even playing with Jagr and Lemieux. Plus the last 3/4 of season he played with Pittsburgh, he was leading the club all by himself in scoring. Any Pens fans will remember.

Kovalev still finished 66th last year in points and he played lot of game injured and missed 12 games with an injury + he did not have Samsonov with him.

So this year he should be in the top 50 scorers.

I saw him at camp this past week-end (4 days ) and he was consistently the most talented player on the ice.

It was mesmerizing to see the things he could do. Effortless.

I hope he'll put up numbers that reflect his ability.

I think with his talent and skill kovalev should be a top 25-30 scorer every year. He simply isn't consistent, and there's no way around it. Some of the best hands in the league, but he doesn't get it done every night.

You actually think he and Samsonov will pass to each other? They're both puck posession guys that never manage to fulfill their potential.

I was thinking the same thing. The difference is that samsonov will carry the puck into traffic, try to make one move, then the second he coughs up the puck and the other team goes the other way.

Best play I've seen him make was in the olympics 2002 on the powerplay, sweet cross ice feed to kovalchuk into a one timer. It was absolutely beautiful.

Yes im a "football fans" but what does that have to do with anything? Every year we hear how great Kovalev is going to do from you, and it has yet to happen so thats where my comment comes from.

Buddy almost a point a game average, played hurt most of the year no he didn't have a sore pinky finger he had legitimate injuries, I'm not saying Kovalev is the toughest player out there but he is tougher then people give him credit for.

and absolutly knowone has mentioned he had and still has to carry around Mike Riberio on his back all over the ice. The Habs don't exactly play a run and gun system so its not like their play in tailor suited for Kovalev to point produce but managing close to a point game not as bad as you guys are letting on.

Okay, don't get too crazy and use "tough" to describe Kovalev. Ever. This is still the guy that douched out on Tucker and I'll never forget the spasm show he gave when he got "slashed" in a series against the Nords.

Jeez, mack, I think that you, me, and JR may be the only ones around here watching hockey long enough to remember that play. I think Andy Van Hellemond was the ref and it cost him the rest of his career. Kovalev is russian for "could have, would have, should have." Awesome talent to watch but so is home run derby during batting practice. Its all about what you do in the game that matters.
