Sniper15 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Yup, I saw him three times in three years. I liked his stuff enough, thought I'd catch his show. It was very good, even in a crappy rainstorm. Next year he cames back and it was almost the same set down to the most minute detail. Then I saw him at Bonnaroo and it was a little different, but nothing like I thought it'd be. I thought he'd change it up because he seemed innovative enough but what I'd seen was just re-hashed stuff and nothing new. Maybe an odd cover here or there but nothing like I thought he'd be capable of. Really? I've been to A LOT of dave shows and never seen a simialar set. You must have just caught him at the wrong times. You said you saw coldplay 5 times? Don't they always play the same set?
mack 44 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 It was the time that sandwiched his solo CD, so I'm sure that explained a lot of it; he probably just kept that stuff for his own events or something.Coldplay does play a lot of the same stuff, save for some covers and whatnot but they're just a personal favourite. I just had heard enough of Dave Matthews where I got my expectations up from others' experiences at his shows.

Saw Neil Young there for his "Greendale" tour w/Emmylou Harris. That's a hell of a stair climb for someone not used to the altitude. (I was a smoker at the time also- that didn't help). Ouch on the Godsmack comment. Rob Zombie was there as well which was pretty cool. He is one distorted Mofo.

Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 You guys didn't read the opening post properly -- he wanted to know which concerts you left utterly disappointed. Two come to mind for me, one for sound and one for content. In college, I saw the Pretenders with the Alarm opening. I can't remember which band was playing but it was so loud that it was just a wall of sound. Literally, the instruments were blending and it was impossible to tell them apart. It was so bad I went up to the sound guy to let him know. Then around 1992, I won tickets to U2. I was so psyched because I figured they'd be a great band live. Well, this was the third night of the "Pop" tour, which wasn't a great album, and they played about eight songs from that album and maybe five from the rest. I was so disappointed that I made a list that night to determine how many songs had come from their earlier albums -- and it definitely wasn't enough to my liking. However, I've seen them twice since then and they've been outstanding, since it was more of a greatest hits concert played with a lot of energy.
Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Bad concerts: -Black Sabbath -Ozzy Osbourne- The magic is gone -System of a Down x2- No emotion in concerts, just regurgitating the album -Slipknot- too many poseurs, and too little synchronicity between band mates -Jack Johnson- feedback city from guitar pickup -Life of Agony- Whitfield Crane was singing at the time:had chops but no soul

mack 44 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Bad concerts...hmm...Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band (2nd time around), Ryan Adams (even if it was comedy gold) and Blink/Green Day for too many reasons.

I saw blink twice and thought they both kicked ass. was that the one with saves the day opening?
mack 44 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Oh don't get me wrong, they were still good but the venue (some crap amphitheatre in Atlanta) was just absolutely brutal. Saves the Day may have opened up in the Northeast, but Jimmy Eat World was the opening act on this leg.
willc7786 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Forgot about this one; In january I saw Matisyahu and OAR at Madison Square Garden, which was a really good show. First of all, MSG, enough said. Plus I think OAR is a fantastic band, and they put on a great live show with lots of energy. For those up North, I always heard the Tragically Hip (back in their younger days) was one of the best live shows in Canada, this true?I'm going to see TOOL in 2 weeks which I'm really looking forward to. Drewhunz 3 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 I'm going to see TOOL in 2 weeks which I'm really looking forward to. Saw them last week. Not good or bad but Masynard is more visible. Songs don't seem to flow as well together though.
Roach 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Incubus came over this side of the world, played for an hour straight, then jumped off the stage to go home to their hotel and fly out the next day. I was lined up for beer and was like, "Where are they going?"
willc7786 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Saw incubus in the family values tour about 7-8 years ago with Orgy, Rammstein (they were some crazy sons of bitches), Limp Bizkit, and Korn. Incubus was very good though I'd like to see them now since they are a much different band.
redwater_12 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2006 I went to see Dropkick Murphys and Bad Religion last night, and let me tell you, that was the single most intense show i have ever seen. by the end of Dropkicks hour and a half, there was nearly 50 plus people on stage. Bad Religion blew everyone away, best live performance i have even seen.
