OPS Injury Tendinitis

Recommended Posts

A lot of us used to get this from using the aluminum shafts. I think it is related to vibration. This tendinitis is on the inside part of the elbow, right? If so, it is also known as "golfer's elbow" ("tennis elbow" is on the outside part of the elbow).

Wood plugs seemed to help with the aluminum shafts, and I guess they and the Oggie Grip could help with the composite OPS too.

I had an issue with my shoulder and bicept when I was using stiff flex sticks on ice... When I dropped down in flex the pain went away. I still use stiff flex sticks for roller, when I actually play it.

Just bumping up this topic to ask what the best precatioary measures are to stop this problem getting worse. I Went from ops' to a vector 5.0 woodie a few sessions back, and today i have just started to get the pain my my left elbow (im a right handed shot). What would you recommend? Im already icing it, any other suggestions?

Resting it up would be on the top of the list for recommendations for helping your elbow heal. For short term things try wearing one of those arm straps that help with tennis elbow. It basically wraps around your upper forearm and keeps all the muscles and tendons tight. I found that helped quite a bit during games. If there was any pain it would come later in the game vs if I wasn't wearing one at all.

When you say a cushioned grip Chadd, how would i do that?

Oggie grips sells a foam that I use under the tape on the butt ends of my sticks. I have bigger hands so the increase in the size isn't a problem and the cushion of the foam is really comfortable. Using a regular oggie grip would work as the rubber coating should dampen a good amount of the vibrations as well.

what if the pain goes in the reverse direction. I usally get the pain in my thum where it connects to my hand. I usally only get it when i play street hockey though i havn't noticed it on the ice yet.
