I'm in NYC and it was just said on the news here that Lidle's passport was found on the ground outside of the building. No word on if it's him, but it's not looking too good.

Yeah, it's official on ESPN and CNN, Cory Liddle was on the plane, one of two confirmed dead. Don't know if it's an accident or suicide though.

CNN reported that this plane has a parachute, and that in an article last month in the NYT Lidle commented on it and how safe the plane was.

There have been quite a few accidents with the 22s as a lot of the people who own them don't have enough experience to safely fly them. Parachute works if you're at high altitude and have an engine failure. VFR ceiling in NYC was 2000' at best.
