Guy Incognito 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 I've got a pair of the Bauer Pro Return pants from EastWestHockey.com, I think they're 5000? I love the feel of them and enjoy skating in them. Anyway, about 3 weeks ago I fell on my ass trying to put a shot in off of a rebound and couldn't walk for a week. There is tailbone protection there, but when I hop the boards to get on the ice it shifts and I think that's why it hurt so bad. I'm constantly touching my own ass to try to make sure the pad is in place. In addition, it doesn't seem like there's a whole lot back there to begin with. Any suggestions on a fix/new pant? BK 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 I'm interested too.. My tailbone has NO protection. I am looking for something to go under my pants if they make such a thing.
Oberon 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 I had the same problem with the same pants, though modesty kept me from constantly touching my own ass. I wound up buying the Sher-Wood PMPX 10 pants from East-West and love them, especially for the price. Supposedly they're CCM pro stock clones. The tailbone pad is more substantial, yet more comfortable, and stays where it should. Only one size available, though.
Jake 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 I'll throw a recommendation out for RBKs. There is so much ass protection in these.

Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 I have Itech 8000 and changed from my bauer specifically because I bust the tailbone plate in them, fell and couldn't walk for a week either.I love the itech's, great protection (and I have fallen on my ass, I am 6'3'' 240lbs) and they were cheap

sc37 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 I wear the Itech 4000s, which is similar and it has enough butt protection for me...granted I'm a lightweight but much nicer coming from my previous pant. It sucked to sit in class after falling on my butt the night before. The 4000s are available online at a few spots, but I say they're similar to Tacks, so you could drop by Hockey Stop and check 'em out. For a quick fix, a light roller girdle under your pants. Or some sorta padded short. But honestly, I needed a quick fix once after reinjuring my tailbone before a game while I was playing some roller with the neighbor kids, nothing like old mouse pads and lots of sock tape :P

Aren't they no longer made? I don't know, I got mine online, the only pants in xxl my LHS had were bauer 4000 and I wanted to get away from bauer as they were the cause of my ass pain. The monkey has the HP6600 for $69.99http://www.hockeymonkey.com/itech-hp6600prohockeypantsr.htmlI think the 8000 are no longer being made, I got them for $49 a few months back in the clearance there. If you do go for the Itech, they fit tighter than the bauer. I didn't like it first skate, but love them now, they are great for me.Now, I play adult beginners league, thats my level, and I have blocked a few shots and protection was great, and have fallen, specifically on my ass (not on purpose), but the tailbone protection, and the back protection has been fantastic for meEDIT: here is a pic of the 8000 from epinions, so you can see the difference between those and the 6600's (mainly the spine protection), but these are the exact pants I have, and love themhttp://www.epinions.com/ITECH_8000_Pro_Eli...n_line_Skating#
sc37 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 Was just gonna add the new Itechs are like the Missions, and might find those easier at a LHS, and maybe cheaper?

Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 I'd contact Mark County with Salming Canada (info@salmingcanada.com).The older Protector Lites had the lowest tailbone protection that I have seen.
mew1838 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 Eastons? just my suggestion, they have the floating tailbone protection I believe. I have a pair of synergy 700, no probs so far.
Edge 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 When I wore Bauers, I damn near broke my tailbone on one fall. I can't speak for the new Vapor line of pants, but from what I have seen of Bauer pants they have poor protection back there.I have worn Easton and now CCM and both have fine protection in all areas. My tailbone busting came as the result of standing on a puck in a scramble inthe crease, and flipping up and landing as hard as possible right on my tailbone
gtoddh 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 My tailbone busting came as the result of standing on a puck in a scramble inthe crease, and flipping up and landing as hard as possible right on my tailboneIt's possible that no matter what pants you were wearing you'd have gotten injured, especially if all your weight came down right on your tailbone.I wear CCM pro-stock pants. They have great padding everywhere. I've never had any tailbone issues, but I don't know if I've ever fallen directly on my tailbone.Prior to these pants I had entry level CCM pants (HP220 maybe?). I was having issues with falling on my hips and getting injured. I'm also a big guy (6'4" 235). Since moving up to the pro-stock pants all my troubles have been eliminated. Well not all. I'm still fat and slow. :(
sc37 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 Seems Bauer pants have a bad rep for tailbone issues so far...you can add me on the list of unhappy Bauer pant users as my butt hurt till I got my Itechs.

CardinalHcky19 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2006 I was wearing CCM's and i kept bruising my tailbone and hop area. I switched to a Bauer MPB8 girdle and haven't had a problem since.
ktang 34 Report post Posted October 16, 2006 I took the tailbone pad from my old CCM Supras and put them into the Bauer pants that I used for 1 season because I kept bruising my tailbone. Just a bit of stitching required.
Roach 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2006 I consistently fall and have never had any problems with my Bauer Vapor 8 girdle. Just tossing this into the mix.
Ville 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2006 I highly recommend those ccm pro tacks pants. I've had no pain (which I had with my earlier pants) at all landing on my tailside since I got these tanks. They are very protective, but they are a bit heavy and expensive though.

When I first started to play hockey I took a "learn to play class". This kid fell on his tailbone and REALLY hurt himself. But he didn't really fall that hard, so the instructor was a little confused. Then the kid says, "I don't know why it hurts so bad, I have a tail bone protector on". This kid put his cup on back wards to "protect his tailbone".Wow...
