Dislike the RBK elbow pads

Recommended Posts

I use RBK 5k elbow pads, most people seem to like em but the strap that goes into the joint of your arm just annoys me. If I dont use that strap, it slides forward towards my hand when I play.

I was told to try Bauer elbow pads, but saw that Easton synergy elbow pads dont use that joint strap. Anyone have any recommendations for tight fitting but non restrictive elbow pads?

I had Nikes, bought the 5K and never wore them I disliked them so much so I got another pair of Nikes. I also dont use the middle strap and the RBK moved around where the Nikes dont.

i've gotten used to the middle strap, but yes, they do move around a bit. thinking of trying the Vector pads...the drawstring fastening mechanism seems interesting.

I didnt like the feel of the RBK elbow pads either. I ended up buying the CCM vector with the becep protector.

They fit perfect.

Don't slide much at all.

RBK elbow pads don't fit well if you have skinny girly-arms. By the way, mine fit great!!

lol...I have skinny girly arms and the 5Ks. No problems really...the middle strap you tlak about was rubbing my arm a bit I loosened it and my pad still stays in place. I wear sweat bands/slash guards too so it acts like a bumper and doesn't allow the pad to slide.

I know what he's saying, that strap isn't as effective as it could be. I have the 7k's, and although it doesn't slide down, it could do a better job. on my old jofa 9077's, the strap system was a little different and worked better because the joint strap velcrowed to the forearm protection area instead of just doubling back onto itself.

edit: I still like my rbk pads though!

I had a pair too and didn't like them either. I got the CCM Vector 6.0 with the lace up tightening system and love them.

See them here

wow that lace thing looks pretty cool. yes i have skinny girly arms. i do wear a long sleeve hockey shirt and it still seems like it restricts movement.

anyone recommend three piece elbow pads like the easton synergy ones?

i cant tell from the pics what kind of closure is used on the 5Ks, but there may be a pretty quick fix. a lot of the Jofa/RBK elbows have two openings on the side the strap loops through. if you take the strap out completely, and put it in the lower opening, the strap doesnt go directly over the inside of your elbow. sorry for a shabby description, but does any one know what im talking about?

damn a while ago i read that rbk/jofa gear was a safe bet.

i dont really like their shoulder pads either, and those shin pads have the SHORTEST leg straps.

I switched from the Bauer 8000, who kept sliding down, to the RBK 7K. yeah, I admit the middle starp is bothersome, but the fit is perfec t for me. you can always wear a long sleeve compression shirt.

but, if you go for Bauer 8000...you probably have the same problem I did
