yes I agree that in high school (im a senior) this is the time when most people get asked so they can make those reservations and group pictures and limo reservations.

as for me, if i dont actually strongly like a certain girl, i dont go. its pointless to waste all that money on a one night dance with a girl your just friends with.

soooo i ask the 5 hottest girls in school to the dance (in front of all their friends) and embarrass the hell outa them. its a win win for me because if they say yes, then what the hell, and i also make some money from the guys at the lunch table who think i dont have the balls.

That seems way too far in advance for me but I don't know, I really can't relate to having this kind of problem/situation came up. That's not a slight to anyone, I just have the gift of gab.

I would notice only the total creepers would ask before 3 months or so. Plus if you asked someone in one of your classes and they said no, that would just leave you in that awful awkward funk and nobody needs that. I just asked someone from another school, that way it's too easy to avoid them if things go south.

Dude, just be honest with her. Tell you that you would like to go to the prom, but dont want to look like a fool if she's playing you. At least then everything is out in the open, and you dont have too many "IFs".

Take it from someone who is only attracted to girls with boyfriends- its actually not as good of a feeling when she breaks up with her boyfriend as you'd think it would be. I found out today that my current whatever for this summer dumped her boyfriend. At first she hid him from me, but she was eventually open about him and how they weren't working out. If its about more than just nailing her (which it sounds like it is to you), you feel kinda bad because she is obviously upset. Do yourself a favor and find a new girl. Would you really want anything with a girl would do what she is doing with you with another guy if you guys were going out? I know that sounds confusing, but the fact that she has something else with you, no matter how small it might be just shows that she has fidelity issues.

Also on prom, it seems bizarre people would ask so early. I couldn't imagine asking a girl and then wanting to go with the same one eight months later.
