I'd like to know what keeps hitting this kid that a helmet can prevent the concussions that he's had. I've taken plenty of hard shots in my day but most concussions come from a violent shaking of the head from an impact somewhere other than the head.

this is off topic but what's the point of D2? there's only 7 teams in the country. why don't they just become D1 or D3?

He plays NCAA Div III college hockey.

And? Is he taking punches and sticks and checks to the back or side of the helmet that are giving him concussions or is he having violent colisions that cause his brain to hit into his skull to concuss him? If he's having head on contact then he isn't playing this game right.

No, but I'm just expecting it to be used as a knock.

Why? A few years ago I played with a kid who had to quit D3 hockey because he developed a glass jaw.

So you've never had a concussion I take it?

Well I just assumed it'd be an asinine little point you'd bring up just to be more grating here.

Pretty sure there are two in my distant past. The point is, the majority of concussions from hockey have little if anything to do with what helmet one is wearing.

What are you guys smoking? I'm not going to change my gear for some skills challenge unless I really feel that it's better. I don't care if NBH gave me head to toe protective! The only way I'd wear it would wear it is if I did think it was better or NBH was paying me.

Speaking of the skills challenge, what ever became of that division 3 player who was in it last year for the men? Did he end up with a pro contract?

every guy in this challenge ihas exhausted his NCAA eligibility. Its only a skills comp, why would they care about not changing gear? Plus the majority of NCAA is NBH anyways

So the last time they could be on the ice playing at a competitive level like that, and they would want to change all thier gear?

I'm sure they wouldn't throw a fit, but gosh, it would piss me off if anyone told me I had to change what I've been wearing for one skate after four years.

i said the 4500/4000 is a better lid IMO. Ive had concys in the 5000/ ccm bucket. I wear a mouthguard and got them then too. I can guarantee in terms of helmets, that mission carbster had less concys than with any other lid, and furthermore, ask anybody ont he board, less documented concussions with 4000 than 5000/8000.

Chippa13 where do you play?

i agree, the 4500 is a comfy helmet which definately looks better than the bulky 5000 and 8000. and honestly, if you get hit that hard wearing any helmet your gonna get knocked unconscious...i.e. Eric Lindros vs Scott Stevens
