question for sprung users....

Recommended Posts

Rinkrat 78a's work well for me and I'm pretty light(140 lbs).

interesting, I'm on the bigger side, 240 pounds and I use 78A rink rat hornets. They are working great for me though.

Yeah they're kind of hard but I still get really good grip. I think the chassis isn't designed to work with wheels that flex a lot, so harder than normal wheels are suggested.

this is a stupid (& partially lazy) question, but that sprung thread is huge & i can't read through all of it.

i spent $300 a few weeks ago for tour e2's & am pretty happy with them. but obviously if i can have something better, i'd do it.

everyone seems to be mounting these things to ice skates or things like that, any reason why? also, i couldn't use the 80mm genesis wheels i use now, people are using 76's. any strong reason why?

i'm also around 140lbs like people in this thread btw. & play on sport court mostly.

I'm finding I actually use slightly harder wheels with as the suspension gives me a measure of "dig" so I can get the benefits or harder and faster wheels without sacrificing too much grip and turning power.

I've mounted them on a pair of inlines and they're working perfectly. Also, I'm planning to mount them on another a pair of inlines, I doubt there's much difference between ice and roller.

Your 80mm genesis wheels wouldn't work with the sprungs, they just don't fit the chassis. You can try and modify it, but it'll just wreck it.

I weight 170lb, and am currently using 76a RR Hot Shots. I mainly play on sportcourt and I find these to be a tadd too grippy, so I'm probably gonna switch to something else soon.

I am skating on coated concrete with converted vector pro ice boots and have just fitted the new 76mm 80/a mb816 mini bearing wheels, 6'3" 240lbs great grip. BTW had a problem with the spacers jamming up the bearings so just removed the problem ones and the skates are great. I are with the previous post when they say they feel the chassis dig in, it is a good feeling of control, fantastic concept.

thanks

I have been using the sprung chasis for 3 months now and the best wheel set up I found was 76,78,80,78 Hornets both for durability and performance. Playing on sport court only at 190lbs.

ok, so sprung is my new favorite frame. i played 3 different times today with different boots and wheels........

bauer boot, sprung frame, front wheel 78a remaining 3 wheels 74a was my favorite. micro bearings vs regular made NO difference to ME.

keith, aluminum sprung chassis are in your future as well as a huge deal with a major boot manufacturer. :) you're the man, man !

Just curious to know why you think that Sprung would be a better frame with aluminum over the current high grade plastics that are being used?

as far as the plastic goes, there are many different types of plastics out there today, from your coke a cola bottle to the plastic under ground natural gas main pipe,so the strength of plastic has come along way.you can take both the sprung frame and aluminum frame and put them thru different tests, what frame is going to last thru the tests?hockey wise what abuse would you put these two frames thru to see what frame would give you the piece of mind out on the rink.for one i saw an aluminum frame brake at its weakest piont, game over for him, then i saw the weakest part of the sprung frame brake (the rocker arm), you can change the rocker arm on the bench and get back in the game ,plus the weakest part of the sprung frame has just been upgraded and made stronger with the new voodoo frame,so right now i still like the sprung frame, just my opinion.
