Roenicks Hockey Dance

Recommended Posts

Id seen clips of him dancing on the ice before but i just assumed it wasnt during a game. Was there any reason in particular that he had to do that, or was it just JR being JR, because if it was im surprised he made it to the end of the game.

Can't watch the YouTube clip from work, but I'm going to assume it's Roenick dancing to the Bee Gees. I was at the game (preseason game in Las Vegas, Kings vs. Avs) and the arena crew was taking forever to change one of the panes of glass during the game (probably since the arena crew doesn't normally do hockey). Seriously took at least 10 minutes, so the crowd was just dead.

So Roenick had the PA guys play some disco and he livened the crowd back up. Unfortunately this was Roenick's highpoint as a King.

What I've always liked about JR is that he has fun. It's nice to see someone that doesn't take everything on the ice soo seriously. He's having fun while getting paid to play a game that many of us pay to play. As much as I've tried, I could never dislike JR.

That's because he's never played for the Lightning, got paid almost $5M to do so, then came into camp out of shape, played a poor season, then blamed a lot of it on not being able to get his skates set up correctly. That will help put a dent in your JR love.

Granted, I still like JR, but after his stint with the Kings I'm glad he's gone.

That's a funny video that's been around for a while now. For JR and several others, the game has changed and unfortunately the old guard can't keep up with it. Time to hang them up JR. It was a good run. See you in the broadcasters booth.

I couldn't agree more.

FWIW, the dance happened during a stoppage in the 2nd period at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas last September (2005). I was there, and it was funny at the time but looking back on how Roenick played for us, I get pissed watching it now. Those were his best moves all season.

But we have Brad Richards! Who seriously needs to start earning his 7 million dollar contract.

JR is just a personality. JR and Vaclav Prospal are from the same breed, just guys having fun playing a game that they love.

Did the Kings at least win that game? If they didn't i'm sure Avalanche was talking about the fag dancing and then how they beat him.

Nope. Laaksonen scored in OT to win it for the Av's.
