toroytorero 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 Last night a guy on my team got called for slashing and was given 4 min and then again for slashing and again 4 min. I saw both and yes he hit the other skater with his stick on their stick both times.. They said slashes are now 4 min but I noticed other games in our league with slashing calls and they only got 2. I just didn't know if the 4 mins is a new thing or if the ref who was calling our game was wrong.
sc37 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 It depends on the league. I know slashing and roughing I think it is are 4 minutes while holding, interference is 2. Supposed to protect the palyers more. On slashing though..the refs have been calling it screwy in my league. Seems I cannot play anyones stick without getting called whether I'm holding it down or lifting it. SickLife 2 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 there's not going to be much consistency with this in these type of leagues. i know sometimes they'll even call hooking when another player hits your stick from above, rather than lifting it. many others let this go. i've never seen a 4 minute for it though. hell, i got a high stick under my visor right in front of the net (with the ref in the corner watching) while i tried to put in a rebound & it wasn't even called wed night. NuggyBuggy 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 In one of the leagues I play in, all stick infractions are a minimum 4 minutes.

I've reffed before and, although you might think the ref would HAVE to see an infraction while he's looking straight at you, sometimes his focus is more on the puck. --notorious 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 I think if the slash is on the stick or shins its should be 2. I would say 4 for high sticks (especially if theres visors or no facial protection) and for wrists. But 4 on a stick thats stupid.

I would say 4 for high sticks (especially if theres visors or no facial protection) and for wrists. But 4 on a stick thats stupid. It's not stupid. the rule is there to cut down on dangerous acts that are not legal in the game of hockey. If the guy whacks a stick the first time and gets 2, he'll come back and try to whack the stick again, but maybe he'll catch the wrist and break it. In my leagues stick infractions are also 4 minutes. I'm pretty sure it's a USA Hockey rule. I like it.
--notorious 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 Oh i meant like accidental not like a two handed whackif its obviously intentional then give him
Louie 28 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 At least you guys get calls our adult league has to be the worst officiated one out there, their excuse is USA Hockey doesn't call obstruction, meanwhile guys are getting hooked and hauled down left and right, blatant slashes are not called... its bad. Hobbes_86 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 calls....penaltys...what are those?!?Its fustrating to play in a womens league where most refs don't take things seriously. Last week a chick 2 handed axe-chopped me up-side my head from behind....the ref was not 10 feet away facing us...nothing was called. Later I hip checked the same girl and sent her flying....again no call. I swear some of those guys are there for an easy paycheck.

USAH rules do not allow 4 for anything other than roughing. Slashing is either 2, 5 or 5 and game under normal USAH rules, though any USAH league can have more strict penalties. toroytorero 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 looking at score sheets from last nights games "my team wasn't one of them" it looks like slashing is being given 4 now. The only thing I think blows about it is that if you get a slashing... and then a hook for instance .. you're booted out of the game.

If you're talking about the "4 penalties in a game" rule, the double minor counts as one. unless it goes by pims in your league.
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 I understand it would stink to be booted out of the game, but slashing and hooking are the types of penalties that people can control. They aren't like the occasional accidental tripping while agressively trying to steal the puck.

B) But of course!Seriously, if I'm paying someone $25 for 50 min of work I expect something that blatant to get called. I would think a chop like that would be considered intent to injure. JR Boucicaut 3789 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 It is MI though...if the quality ref isn't going to pick that $30 up, then someone else will.I can't comment on thei ref situation here because I have never played in a league.

Our beer league games only pay $35 and they used to pay $30. The top guys in this area only work the varsity HS and midget games since they pay $50-$75 a game. Because of my schedule I can only pick up games when I have the time, regardless of the level.
