I don't see what's too impressive about what he's doing in any of those videos.

Get any good NCAA D1 forward and he could probally do that just as well.

What makes kovalev so good is his vision while stickhandling like that. -As evidenced by his hit on Tucker while he was carrying the puck.

I don't know how you could say that. Kovalev has the best hands in the world. Anyone can do that drill but to be able to do it at that speed on ice. Give it a try sometime. Kovalev has been doing that drill since he was 14 years old so if you think any player that plays high level hockey can just pick up a stick and do that drill your in for a suprise

hockeychamp, you have got to be kidding me, right? I play in around the same level as you say and you should see my teamates when they try it wow. I am able to do it because I got pretty much the same quality and speed of hanbds than my bro has and you guys know he is able to to it, but I'll try to get one of my teamates cell phone videos, because they are filming me while I am doing some on ice hands drills even before I saw kovy's videos.

I disagree. I've been on the ice with D-I players on a semi-regular basis since I was about 15...I don't think there's a one of them that would be able to fire a puck with their top hand like that...and the "Tic-Tac-Toe" is only slightly less impressive.

I play with d1 guys who play pro now, none can do that. the only people i know that can do the stickhandling is kovy ribs nd his bro.

Im with the last two comments. Ive skated with Robbie Schremp, and he has SICK hands...and he is no where near Kovy. Only thing i have seen comparable in person is Tim Connolly, i skated with him once as well.

That would make sense as he is probably one of the top 5 stickhandlers in the league after Kovalev. Not sure if anyone saw but in THN according to Breire the 3 best stickhandlers are Datsyuk, Connolly and of course Kovalev.

yeah Datsyuk is pretty nasty too...But its too bad about Connolly...i have a feeling he wont be back from the concussion, at least not in the near future. He was just turning it on too.

I was talking about the "tic tac toe" video, I should have mentioned that.

The one handed shot is very impressive to me.

Connolly was such a tease during his stint with the isles. Everyone thought he'd be the next big thing, but of course gets traded away and starts doing better.

He was pretty nasty at wiffleball aswell.

I saw Robbie Schremp play once this year and he had insanely fast hands. In the warmup after everyone else had left the ice, Schremp put on quite the little stick handling show. He also lifted the puck into the air and batted it around a few times, and finally spun around while the puck was still up and shot the puck out of the air into the net. During the game, an opposing player tried to clear the puck up along the boards, but before it even touched the boards Schremp knocked it out of the air and took control. He is AMAZING!

But as for the one-handed shooting video, that was crazy. I've never seen that before. Maybe one day I'll get strong enough to do that.
