BOMBERS RELEASE FORWARD, DAN KNAPP

Bombers Act Swiftly Upon Criminal Charges

The Dayton Bombers announced today that effective immediately, forward Dan Knapp has been released out right by the ECHL member team, following allegations of criminal misconduct in Warren County, Ohio.

“We are shocked and saddened by these charges," said Head Coach and General Manager, Don MacAdam. “The Dayton Bombers organization has a zero tolerance policy for anything remotely related to this matter. Now is the time for the criminal justice system to run its course and that will decide Dan's future in life and hockey.â€

"The mission and value structure of our organization is based upon community involvement and family entertainment and these allegations leave us no choice but to release this player immediately," said Bombers President, Costa Papista.

Twenty-three year old, Knapp played 9 games for the Bombers between the end of last season and the beginning of this season. Prior to joining the Bombers, Knapp appeared in 123 career games at the Ohio State University, scoring 91 points. Knapp won a Junior A National Championship, played for the USA Junior Select Team in 2002 and competed in the 2001 USA top hockey prospects tournament.

Please direct questions to: Costa Papista or Don MacAdam at 937 775-4747. Legal questions should be addressed to the Knapp family attorney, John Paul Ryan at 937 223-9133.

The Dayton Bombers are the "AA" affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets and AHL's Syracuse Crunch. The team has just launched its 16th season in the ECHL, premier "AA" professional hockey league in the United States and Canada.

Guilty or not, no one wants that stigma on their team. I'm sure teammates with kids wouldn't want theirs around a reported kiddie-toucher.

it's easier to re-sign him if things prove he didn't do anything of the sort, than to get positive thoughts in people's heads if they thought bad things about the team for it.

would these kinda guys actually get a second chance? I know that if convicted, the chances of him going thru a jail term unscathe is near impossible. Child molesters/abusers are supposed to be the lowest life form... even the killers hate them...

From his Ohio State University athletic profile.

"enjoys helping children learn to love hockey and help improve their skills"

"would like to be a teacher at an elementary or middle school"

Do you think he dressed as a Priest at the company Halloween party? It would be something if he was a closet Michael Jackson fan.
