Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2006 There is an ice rink here, called Wheaton Ice Rink, it sometimes gets like that, then if/when it finally clears, there is a film of water on the ice, horrible
NuggyBuggy 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2006 Hey if they can play thru the fog in Mighty Ducks 3, they can play thru it here :lol:Forget the movies, Buffalo and Philadelphia played two *Stanley Cup* games in fog thicker than that. Edmonton and Boston also played a Cup game in fog but I don't think it was as bad as the Buffalo game.
arrows91 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2006 This is normal for basingstoke Bison team in the UK. Along with the plexa steaming up so you cant see a thing. But they just get on with it!!

arrows91 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2006 Alias81 : Most of those images are taken late on in the game when it starts to clear. Im there most weeks as i get in for free and we normally have to wait a gd half an hour for the fog to clear slightly. Some games take about 6 periods becasue of the stoppages to clear the ice and plexy. I didnt design the logo and its slightly different to the Old sabres one. DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 There's a rink in Freeport, Long Island that's notorious for fogging up. We usually play though it, but it got so bad in one beer league game that we had to cancel the game after the first period. You couldn't see more than 5 feet in front of you, but they had decided to start the game anyway. After a few close calls in the 1st, the refs called it. We were winning too. DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 So this isn't as uncommon as i thought it was. Everybody has a story about it. Lol, sorry for wasting you time :PIt's still an interesting thread, and I had never seen it happen other than that one time in my game. Kind of crazy that it happened in a college game. You'd think they'd know what they're doing with their rinks.

DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 is that where the freeport arrows play, they're in my league but we haven't played them at their home rink yet. i think kids on my team said it was a shitty rink.I don't know if it's where they play, but yeah, it's pretty bad. It's outdoors in a bubble. The ice is actually yellow, and can be hard to see the lines. The glass on the sides of the rink is actually shorter than me when I'm standing outside the rink (I'm about 5'10)and the ice is about 4" higher than the ground on the bench, so when you go over the boards it's uneven and annoying. That and the locker rooms suck.

I'm gonna be nice, and give you a "Get Outta Jail Free" card on this one. But if you were in my neck of the woods, we don't take to kindly of referring Boston University as Boston College. The red is Boston University... the Maroon & Gold is Boston College. The Crimson... well, is Harvard.

Sometimes it gets so bad that condensation collects on the roof and it starts "raining".
ThePurpleCobra 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2006 I was at that game, my sister goes to BC so we drove 2 hours to see her and to watch the game, it was pretty intense in that building they had to have the players skate around 2 times before they called it quits, i was behind the net and at points i couldnt see the BC goalie on the other end. Kevbeau 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 Here's a link with the Sabres-Flyers Cup game in the fog. The video is a Sabres highlight compilation, but the fog shots start around 1:10 or so.
willc7786 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2006 the Freeport rink is the rink the arrows play on, and it is pretty much garbage. Either that or dix hills are the worst rinks on the island. They started out as outdoor rinks and they threw a roof over it and they've never been right. As for fog, it happened to me once in a college practice. You'd stand on the goal line and couldn't see past the red line at all... we were doing suicides and it looked like field of dreams with players coming from nowhere. The fog stayed the whole practice and we actually scrimmaged. One of our defensemen scored a goal from the far blue line because he shot it and the goalie didn't see it until it was 10ft from him lol It was hilarious too see him flip out when he reacted to a puck coming from nowhere
