NHL 2004 Help

Recommended Posts

So I am into my 3rd year of dynasty and all of a sudden all the all stars disappear. I was wondering if they retired, after the 1st year Adam Oates and Brett Hull were gone but I can see why they retired since they are both above 40 years old but then I notice even more players just disappering, guys like Mike Modano, Lidstrom, Sakic, Yzerman and a lot more superstars now guys like Modo and Sakic still have a good bit in there carreers they are mid-late 30s so whats the deal what happened to those guys? I checked every other team to see if a trade had occured but nothing and I checked the free agents also nothing and they are rated in the low 90s for attributes so where did they go? I am pretty fustrated with the fact that every NHL team is depleted in only my 3rd year of dynasty.

Ya I can second that. What I did was create my entire HS team and create a team, and they were all like 15/16 and we won all 20 years.

P.S. nice quote crosskore, Zoolander is one of the funniest movies ever.

Guys who retire just disappear off of your roster. That's just the way it is. Wait for 2005. It will be awesome.

They better fix the CPU trading because I simmed ahead and I'm facing the Minnesota Red Wings. The Wild has Lidstrom, Dandenault, Maltby, Schneider and Shanahan. Somehow they kept Gaborik too, it's bollocks.

updating graphics and going back to 2003 gameplay would be one hell of an improvement.

They need to make the game harder! I go about 17 games between losses on difficult using the damn columbus blue jackets. My only players that can do anything are Nash at 91 overall after 3 years and zherdev who is an 85 overall after 3 years.

I bought ESPN and it's alright, I'm playing at a level which is pretty difficult for me, but its getting frustrating. All other teams do is stand infront of the net and hammer anyone who comes near it, theres always 3 D and I can never get shots through. I'm hoping EA has fixed the repetetive goal problem they seemed to always have and not just use a patch like it appears ESPN has. It'd be great to play a game where they beat you on good goals, and stop you when your trying to do stuff, not just stand infront so your can't deke or shoot.

Well its better then NHL rivals for xbox. I just simmed through half my season and won the stanley cup so I could do some off season trades and sign free agents and stuff, but theres only one problem with that... You can only do one season! No one retires or anything and you dont get to go to your next season, its just over. Thats a jip. I would have gotten EA hockey games but you cant play them on xbox live.

I heard you can play 2005 on xbox live though.

That's why they're taking a year off. They know their sports titles needed some work. I'd hope NHL 2005 would be online after all the hoopla about joining with Microsoft.

ESPN hockey is better, ea has the easy goals, but if you having trouble in espn with 3 d in front, just set up one timers, thats the only problem is one timers go in alo, no matter what difficulty, ea also dont let you have more than one team in a dynasty so you cant play with anyone, like a brother or friend, espn does..

I try for alot of one-timers. The Goalies either dive across and stop it or the D blocks it. I'll generally get one one-timer goal a game on a 2-1 and the rest of the time I get hit before I have the puck. Very frustrating. I'm playin on All-star right now.

There are some editors that you can get to make the players retire later. One of them is called "blomman editor". I will try to find out some links.

And by the way I thought that I should post of screens of the team I created last year for NHL 2002. I made the jersies, socks, helmets...everything. It is not that great but that was my first team set I made. I got alot of other things made now.

Thats sick.

I loved how in NHL 2002 I believe they had the One timer pass, where you could pass with and then the pass comes back to you. I also miss being able to deflect shots. Thats like a real hockey game where theres deflections and screens.

well im in the 2012/2013 season with my fantasy flyers ;) my tip to make the game more fun is to fantasy draft. for the retirement: when u make trades look at the players year he was born and drafted. A BS note: in 2011/2012 postseason Evgeni Nabokov (rated 98 for me) retired, i think that is too early. Pick players such as Bouwmeester and SIMON GAGNE!!! he was a 99 rating in his 4th year and i heard he will play all 20 years.

FLyers: Cups 5 out of 8

oh yeah, when making contracts; if u know the player is gonna be good SIGN HIM FOR 5 or 6 years when he is still cheap. (i know from experience, signed gagne when he was 91 for 7.5 mil/1 year, next year he is a 99 and wanted 21.7 mil

Havnet tried Gagne but looking at his current 04 stats he looks like he is going to be great and same with Nabakov he is so crazy and is one of the only goalies that give my team a challenge.

A few guys that have worked great for me:

-Chistov

-Luongo

-Pascal LeClair (goalie from blue jackets)

-Raffi Torres

-Ales Hemsky

-Boumesster

-Jirri Fischer

I really like Boumesster and Jirri FIscher, Jay is a solid puck carring defencemen and Ficher can lay the big shoulder.

If you go through all of the International league players first and assign them to a team while out of dynasty mode, you can then start a dynasty with players from other leagues. Alot of them have tons of potential and have all worked out great for me, and I'm in my second year. Some of the players I have are-

Henrik Lundquist- Goalie

Tuomo Ruutu

Marcel Goc

Antti Miettinen

Niklas Kronwall

Sean Bergenheim

Go through the list of players, its time consuming, but it worked out great for me. :-)

I love nhl 2004 and the dking in it but whenever i get on a breakaway a lot of times i get hooked and i get pissed off

i also think that they need to improve the A.I.

Make the game flow a little more

i hope they make an all star competittion too

that would be fun

what do you guys think

I tried doing that, I put everyone with 80 and above attributes onto the NHL teams but there was way too much guys and it runied the North Amercian Players becasue all the na players retire and soon we got euro league nhl style.

Ruttuu is crazy he has such high stats and 99 potential.
