Computer Problems

Recommended Posts

we've got an acer t100 desktop computer and i'm trying to wipe it clean and reboot the whole thing, to get rid of all the garbage on it. problem is, it's not working. i put both the master restore cd and floppy in the computer, restart the computer, and select system restore...then it goes through a process of trasnferring software to the computers disk drive, and once thats complete the screen turns to a message prompt saying 'drive image restored successfully; echo is off; A:\>...'. problem is, i don't know what i'm supposed to type into the A:\> prompt, and its driving me nuts. any help?

I honestly would go buy a copy of windows xp. I format and reinstall about every 6 months and having the windows disk makes it easy. When I want to format and start fresh, I just put the cd in, reboot and tell it to format before reinstalling windows.

well i've never had this problem. whenever i had to reboot my laptop, i just throw in this startup disk that came with it, and the rest takes care of its self. i tried the same with the master restore disks for the desktop at home, and its gone all haywire.

do you want to format it (erasing everything) or just replace your system files keeping your personal files intact?

reboot is a synonomus with restarting your computer, it has nothing to do with deleting files. Formating your hard drive will delete everything on the disk, including your operating system. Since you have loads of spyware I assume your operating system is windows. There is not much you can do other than download spyware blockers and scanners unless you are willing to delete everything.

Have used it before, but didn't seem to do the trick.

I am useing windows. If I saved everything on disks and such..the virus or w.e I have couldn't be on those and than transfer them back onto the reformated computer after I upload it?

And in S&D it says I have-

Winsoftware.WinAntiVirusPro2006

Winsoftware

Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.FirewallDisableNotify

Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.AntiVirusDisableNotify

LinkSynergy

MediaPlex

and a few others that say it's a cookie thing or something like that.
