Visor/Helmet combo

Recommended Posts

So i'm going out tomorrow to purchase a new helmet/visor. I previously wore a 5000 with the HS22 prowave visor, but it scratched up some quick so i'm ruling that out. Plus i didn't like the little wave, looking for more of a straight cut. I've been thinking maybe the 8000/8500 helmet, with the itech dx100 (sp?). I don't want a huge visor, but i'm ok with the itech one i mentioned.

Yes i've done some searching, but also wondering what some good visors to put on an Intake or 4500 lid are?

I'll put in a vote for the Intake helmet, but I can't recommend a visor. I think everyone should wear full mask, but that's just me. I've seen too many players get injuries that would have been prevented had they been wearing a full mask. If I were getting paid to play hockey then I might accept the risk of not wearing a mask, but I've got to get up and go to work the next morning. I don't want to spend the night in the emergency room waiting to get stitched up, or worse.

Enough preaching...

Good luck with your selection.

i think he would be wearing the visor for reffing

Well then disregard my soapbox preaching!

I too wear a visor for reffing. It's the Bauer one that attaches to the helmet in the front middle(like a full mask :) ), and has straps that go back and snap. It's pretty big and not all that attractive, but I don't care what it looks like. It's for protection.

Yea i'm using it for reffing, as i'm not old enough to wear a visor.

I got to see the NBH 4500 with the new Itech visor and thought it looked nice, but i'll check see what's in stock tomorrow. Thanks guys.

I've taken the true vision cage off my Bauer 8000 and put on an Itech X100... seems to be a good combo...

Don't happen to have a picture do you?

Wow there is some major price differences from some of those companies.

Then I went on Ebay thinking that I could find one even cheaper and damn they were $100 on there,

Compared to $60 from Epuck

The Mission Intake helmet is my choice. Just as protective as Bauers concussion helmets (5000,5500,8000,8500) and a heck of a lot less expensive. Put on the CCM/Jofa 480 cage (white or chrome) and it's perfect. Itech and Bauer's Tru-vision cages just stick out from the front of the helmet too far and are heavier.

Just ordered the HS22 Itech mirrored visor for my 8500 helmet...to see if there is something to this "can't see my eyes" theory in my league. Pics to come once installed...

Now, why can't you have the Bauer 4000/4500 or Mission Intake helmet to go with that visor, to see if I would like it! err.

I actually have a Pro Stock Toronto (royal) 4000 helmet. If I still have it (selling on ebay) when the visor comes in, I can screw it on for a quick pic.

I'm going to start reffing soon and I was wondering if you guys really think you should have a visor. I wouldn't really mind wearing one but I don't know if the extra $60 justifies it. For the moment I'd be reffing PeeWee's and under (6th-7th graders)
