our highschool teams have nothing to do with the schools. we cant have a pic in the yearbook, no announcements, nothing.

its rediculous.

at my school, we are not sanctioned by our school, but CHSAA (Colorado High School Activities Association) approved high school ice hockey as an official sport years ago. unfortuantely, our school district doesn't have the budget to bring in ice hockey. the good news is, neither do most of the other school districts around us, so we all play in a high school league that is technicly not associated with any of the schools. luckily though, our school has embraced our team by putting small announcements on our video news and even having a 2-page spread in the yearbook. it's not great, but it's better than most schools around here get.

we had an artical in our schools newspaper, and under it it said not sanctioned by our school.

the officials in our district are very strict against hockey and lacrosse

my mom works in our districts administration and she has been pushing our AD to at least look into sanctioning hockey. and as far as lacrosse goes, we have 1 team that is sanctioned by the district that takes players from all 4 of our high schools.

I think your missing the point guys and galz, someone just died and thats what this topic is for.

I don't think a topic on someones death is the right place to change the subject and start getting pissy at your school.

No hit, no collision...nothing...he just died? There has to be some kind of pre-existing condition (They probably didn't even know about it).

That's horrible!!!!!

Any update from someone in the area?

That was in a GTHL AAA game. I wonder what age. Wow, I hate to hear about stuff like that, starts to feel close to home.

I searched the Mississauga Rebels' site and the coach is listed as Midget AAA.

Damn, I hate hearing about that stuff, doesnt matter if its hockey you know.

It said it happened against their rivals. A similar thing happened here last year, and every game that we played that team, we felt kinda bad.

Condolences to the family.

This sort of thing does sometimes happen. A weak heart, a brain anurism, a line drive to the heart and it stops...there are lots of ways to buy the farm. Be thankful, and live life to the fullest while you are still here!

Alex Corrance was a very good friend of mine. I've played hockey and gone to school with him for the past 7 or so years. He died due to a severe heart attack. His family has a history of heart problems and because of the nature of the problem, it was completely undetectable. It was only a matter of time before it happened. At least he left this world doing what he loved to do best.

that is so sad.

reminds me of that Lacrosse player that took the shot to his rib cage, and his heart swelled and suffocated itself due to the pressure of the ribs.

sad, sad thing to see. My condolances go out to the Corrance's.
