Hockey Socks Falling Down

Recommended Posts

I'm confused... You really only have two options: garter belt and jock combo, or one of those jock shorts with the velcro tabs. What are you using now?

I cant stand velcro straps.. It means you have to wear some specialty brand boxers.. I would rather sport my own and wear a garter.

The velcro tabs on a pair of athletic supporter shorts are your remedy.

I usually wrap a strip of tape around my leg and over the velcro, just to hold the sock in place.

So you've known about garter belts and the jock w/velcro tabs? Why haven't you tried either of them?

I didn't know garter belts for hockey socks existed. I knew there was some type of velcro involved in holding them, but I didn't know what the velcro was attached to, in this case the jock. Also, I don't laugh at the idea of using the garter belt I just found it a little amusing at first.

Get the best of both worlds - Sockjawz. I actually bought a pair and they are nice and don't dig into your leg like the metal clips do.

Very nice.. I have been looking for something like this. I go through about 3 garters a season because I lose those stupid plastic ends of the clips.

I have been using the sockjawz for a while and it works nicely, however I am going mod my own version with longer straps and no top side velcro (it tends to get stuck on the liner of my pants)

I use the jock shorts with velcro tabs and have never had a problem with socks falling. It's kinda funny but I never asked some of my team mates why they use tape at all. The other day the locker room was in a state of panic as no one had any tape. One of my team mates navigated through the crowd at the rink pro shop wearing just his jock shorts. Funny as hell but I am wondering why use tape. I have Mission Fuel shin guards and the strapping system is excellent. They never get loose and my socks never fall with the velcro.

I hate that. I'm missing 3 out of 4 of them so i just use tape to help out. Works fine if you put it in the right spot.

 you didnt know there are garter belts for hockey? How long do you play hockey now? Doesnt any of your teammates use them?

I can understand it sounds funny for non hockey players that we use garter belts :D

Yeah, and even here in Germany, the translation is even weirder for non-hockey players.

I ended up wrapping small strips of tape around the plastic part to hold them to the metal clips. Haven't lost one since.

I'm going to have to try one of these. I often feel the clips on the front of my legs and it's annoying. I often have the clips come off the back too where the strap stretches over my fat ass! B)

I have the Shock Doctor long compression jock...it keeps me relatively cool as it's the dry-fit style material, I don't have the straps of my shin guards digging into my skin, and it has velcro tabs to keep the socks up. Never had a single problem with them falling down and the tabs are a few inches above my knee so you don't see them.

These guys here. Although I found them at my local Hockey Giant...they probably have them at other places as well.
