Way to address the grit factor, Ottawa. This is why they need Muckler to go back to Transylvania.

I don't think that is what they were trying to address with this pick up...more to address the missing Offense with Spezza and Fisher out.

Besides, you don't need grit in the New NHL ;) (No Hit League)

Ottawa isn't too worried about grit anymore. Until Fisher got hurt they had the number 1 and 2 league leaders in hits, and the the league leader in blocked shots in Volchenkov, their real worry this year is consistency.

Phoenix on the other hand will have 2 bright prospects in Lisin and Kaigorodov, whether it be this year or next year

I'd be surprised if he amounts to anything more than a star in Russia. He was supposed to crack Ottawa's top 6 this season and couldn't crack the roster at all. After a little poutting he's suspended and back home. He's currently 23 and not getting younger. Gretz'll need to work with him in order to get'em over and on the roster. It's possible he'll play, but he's far from a blue chipper at this point.

This is a big risk on Phoenix's part, trading a regular player for someone they might not even get. For a team floating around the bottom of the conference, it really cuts their chances of doing anything this year.

Clears salary and opens a spot for Reinprecht.

all the Ottawa players are like carbon copies of each other, and none of them produce in the playoffs expect spezza and havlat, and he got dealt.

ALFIE does a disappearing act in the playoffs.

Who I think would of helped them a lot in MO is Raffi Torres. Maybe not the greatest goal scorer, but at least hes consistent.

if youve watched the oilers at all you'd know that torres isnt consistant at all.

he can only score against the canucks it seems and is very very streaky.

he'll have a 2-3 point night and then take the next 3 weeks off.
