Pro Stock Adrenaline Shaft

Recommended Posts

I recently purchaced a pro stock Adrenaline shaft at my LHS. It seemed too nice of a deal for $45(US)to pass up.

I tried to do a search here and google, but could not find any info., but had a few things I was curious about.

Is this shaft a pro option only, or can you get them retail?

The shaft belonged to Tom Fitzgerald from when he was with the Bruins.

The flex is not marked anywhere on the shaft, is there anyway of knowing what the flex is? I also have a prostock Dolomite stamped as 220 flex(110?), and this shaft seems to be a good bit less stiff.

I need to cut it down like 2 inches, but I also wanted to put an end plug in to balance it a bit more.

Does anyone think I could cut it 4 inches and put in an end plug cut down to 2 inches? Or would that severly effect the flex?

Any answers would be appreciated, thanks.

EDIT:Heck of a way to start off, jeez....

i personnally would not cut the shaft more then i have to because if for some reason something happends at the bottom and you need to cut 1" of it or w/e its better to have some lenght to play with instead of putting a big plug. I really dont think cutting it down 4 inches and putting a plug will balance it and make a noticable difference, and if you do cut it and put a plug it will affect the flex unless you put an oggie grip but even then youll have to cut more. My personnal opinion is to put the blade in and cut it, and not to screwd around with balance with plugs cuz you might fuck it all up. And as for the flex they usually have a number on the shaft and usually that will help us diagnose the flex.. so if you can find it and post it that would be great.

some times companies put the shafts info on a sticker inside the shaft. If you look inside and see a sticker it could have the flex on there. And I agree with the above post, don't cut the shaft unless you absolutely have to; cutting will severely mess with the flex

I will look and see if there is a number of any sort on the shaft.

I have seen other pro-stock TPS sticks with the flex marked on the stick just under the players name.

But, on this shaft, there seems to be a mark under the "Fitzgerald 12", but it appears to be "rubbed/worn" off.

I would prefer NOT to cut the shaft, but this thing is LONG!

With a short hosel tapered blade, it's as long as an un-cut Sherwood woodie I have.

I'm going to try it out as-is and see how she goes.

I go back and forth on my prefered stick length. I had been using a pretty short stick until very recently I've been going longer. This may be a bit too long though. Thanks for the replies.

I'm pretty sure this shaft isn't X-stiff. I have a TPS X-stiff shaft and they don't seem really close (admitedly, I am NOT an expert on these things by any means).

It's too early to think about selling it, but, i'll keep it in mind, thanks.

BTW, does anyone know if TPS ever offered an Adrenaline shaft retail?

They didnt offer them for retail, but that doesnt mean you couldnt just heat them up and pull the blade out of the OPS. Thats what I did with the adrenaline and xn10's. Anyways, TPS uses letters for their flex ....so, look at the rubbed off part for a chunk of a letter, say w for whip, r for regular, s for stiff and so on.

He used an R2 with a wood blade for a while, so this isn't too surprising. I recall seeing both R and S flex Responses for him at Peranis as well. It's most likely one of those two flexes.

I looked real close at the part that was rubbed off. It appears to be an "S". Though when I used it on Sunday night, it felt a little closer to "R". As it turns out it wasn't too bad using it at current length.

I like this shaft. It has nice feel. Not sure if it's the SIMS shock dampening system, but, it felt good.

I think I'll need to try another blade though. The only tapered blades I had lying around were one of those OLD synthesis composite blades, or a KOHO 4490(Jagr, but don't like 6 lies).

I prefer wood blades, so I'll be looking around. Thanks for all the input.
