Supreme one90 skates

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a pair of one90's off Ebay brand new for a great price. I am happy to say they fit me perfect. However I feel really weird on them, almost like I have no balance at all. When I turn or pivot I am off balance. My father sais my skating has looked very weird ever since i have used these skates. When I go to check someone I fall down a lot. I am known for being a terrific skater. I have played AAA/select hockey my whole life and have never had trouble like this. My old skates were a crappy pair of rbk 4k's, but i could skate fine in them. Is there anything I can do to make these skates feel more normal? Thanks in advance

the reason why you feel off balanced alot is because of the longer blade, i had the same problems when switching form 8090's to one90's, if you have the time and $ you could change the blade holders to ls2's and that could fix the problem but all you can do now is just get used to it

It could be the pitch of your holders scince you are probably used to RBK/CCM holders, and you are using TUUK's which may have different pitch (forward lean). You might need some heel lifts if you feel back on your heels when skating. I am not an expert though, so dont take my advice, and someone on this board please correct me If I am wrong.

I'd say pitch also, the people I have spoken to with One90's were suprised when I said the runner was longer and said they felt no difference at all. Stiffness could also be an issue, maybe you're not used to a skate this stiff, I know when I replaced an ancient pair of rollers this year I felt quiet off balance with a newer stiffer skate.

hockeymom has sent you to the thread that will help you the most. Your skates need to be profiled. You will feel the difference immediately. The sooner you get this done, the better.

It's actually the opposite... the Bauer pitch is more backward on your heels. CCM/RBK pitch is more forward. Like Hockymom said, that One90 thread will help out a lot.

But overall, you'll probably need a heel lift and a radius... that's what I was planning when I got my One90's... sadly enough, I never skated in them.

umm... i cannot agree with you on that one. My one90s feel like I am on my toes as opposed to my supreme 70s. It felt pretty different, pitch wise, when i switched (forcefully, the "flexible" tendon guard snapped when i was skating at a practice) from my supreme 70s to the one90s.

They are comparing the pitch of one90's and RBK skates.

When you got these skates di you feel how the heel is more locked down? If so this would be the main reason for everything IMO.

Your are locked into the skate much better there for the Profle feels totally off and you would feel unblanced.

If you dont get them Profiled to accomidate the way your heel is locked in you will feel off balance. I put those Runners and Holders on My G35's and I feel much farther back although I know it is only slightly farther back.

The actually felt pretty goos to bad i am giving them to a buddy who needs new skates.

Anyway do as suggested get them done on a 9Ft slight forward leand as this would take off the least amount of steel.

Try that and go from there.

I changed out the holders on my son's one90's to Lightspeed's and he seems to be on his heels a bit, and seeing as I dont think there is a LHS around here that does profiling, Should I be looking into heel lifts for him?

yes sir. heel lifts are a good alternative to a profile because profiling may remove too much steel. The LS2Powers don't have much steel on them. The LS/LS2s have a bit more, but you can still extend the life of the steel with a lift.

A question for a the guys that had the one90s for a while now, how have they held up?

I have used them for 7 months and they are still as strong as the first day I skated in them. I have sharpened a few pair in the shop that have taken some abuse but compared to other top end skates with as much ice time, I think the ONE90s I have seen are holding up very well. JMHO.

MissD's one90's have been thru hell and back - using them on the treadmill and skating 4-5 times a week since August. They have some minor scuffs (mostly originating from falling on the treadmill) but they have held up extremely well. She is still thrilled with them.

I agree with AnthonyJTa. Your probably sitting too far back on your heels which accounts for your falling down when you go into the corners or to the boards to get the puck. You had a neutral profile on your 4K's and you where sitting more forward on your toes. It happened to me a few years back when I switched from CCM 852 Tacks to a pair of Bauer XX's. Everytime I stopped suddenly on the boards to dig out the puck I'd take a header backwards and I really hit the back of my head off the ice a few times. Good thing I had a really good helmet at the time. You may need a heel lift and if that doesn't work then get your LHS to profile them to a neutral profile for you. You'll notice the difference almost immediately when you get them back on the ice.

since i am getting a pair of one90s, i want them to feel like my vapor xxx's did. What profile would i have to use to get them to feel like that? or if i decide to change to LS2's would i have to profile them at all?

Thanks for the quick reply OTG and Hockeymom...i was secretely hoping one of you guys would respond!

But yeah, apart from rare cases of the outsole separating and fit problems (guys with the wrong feet), i have never really heard anyone blast these skates.

Well i bit the bullet and picked up a pair of one90s. The guy at my lhs knew i was coming in from xxs so right off the bat after i purchased these skates he installed lifts. going to skate for a bit before profiling the skates.

question: i'm happy with the general fit of the skates but my left heel feels like it could be a bit more snug. the rest of the foot feels fine though. is it ok to heat it (the heel area) up a bit with a heat gun to get that area moldable so i can fit my foot better?
