wooden sticks

Recommended Posts

Had alot of 5030's seem pretty consistant not too heavy either, they tend to break down fairly quickly though, maybe slightly quicker then other woodies but they were always my preference.

I have a friend that swore by Muskoka wood sticks. He broke his last one and hasn't found another wood stick he's liked. He's now using a vapor XX.

I hear good things about montreal wood sticks but that same friend said that they were a bit heavy.

I've used the Sher-Wood 5030 Coffey curve since the late 80's. I've had one that I still use that is almost 7 years old, although I splurged and bought a new one, so now the old one is backup  Never had a problem with them, but its the only stick I really know, so I can't compare.

*I did try an aluminum back when they first came out, hated it.

Big Fan of the Bauer 6000, its too bad they dont make them anymore. In fact they sold out in a matter of a week at the LHS around here as soon as the package came, most of the kids on my team last year used them. if you can find some Id recommend getting them, that is if you like grip sticks.

How do you stretch a wooden stick 7 years? Just don't play that often?

Yeah, I hadn't played in 5 years haha and when I did it was an occasional pick-up game around once a week. I do think the old one has lost some pop from being in storage and going through the temperature and humidity changes over those years. I'm a pretty small slender dude also, so there isn't a lot of weight flexing the hell out of it. There are some bonuses to being a small guy

Bauer 1000's are fairly light and durable, not sure what the new NikeBauer model is called but it's the same stick.

Montreal 4400 is my favorite wood stick. Lighter in weight than a 5030 with a thinner and very consistent blade. Euro is a great pattern, like a slightly open 5-lie Lindros curve. It's also got a slightly thinner or rounded shaft compared to the 5030.

I'm pretty sure its the bauer one40, same length and about the same flex. IMO.

Take a look to the Sher-Wood 9950. IMHO, the best wooden stick being made nowadays. A little bit heavy though.

If weight is an issue, take a look at the Sher-Wood 7000. Lighter but a little bit shorter also.

I really like the newer nike one's. Even the low end 20 is good, has very good balance and I find I can get off a pretty good shot with them. I use the One60 as my backup stick to my Easton Stealth '05.

sherwood 9950 = good stick. any wooden stick can be good if you like the curve and weight, especially if its fresh or kept in a nicely humidified environment. i used to use branches sticks alot, but they are quite heavy.

i remember i used to swear by the 3030 as a kid, and i would always see the green 3040s with the concave/convex shaft, but i was still in junior sticks back then and couldnt use it.

anyone who has a One60 notice a difference with the composite layers they added to the wood? I'm thinking of picking one up for sticktime and clinics (for fun).

i have a one 60, sort of reminds me of the easton z carbon hybrids or whatever they were called. I like it, best woody i have ever used, fairly light and the blade has a real lice pop/feel to it, great for snap shots.
