The only legal one there is itunes.. The others you CAN pay for, but its still filesharing (which is illegal and has a big potential for your computer to get viruses).

whats the best torrent program? i had bittorrent and it didnt work at all so i downloaded utorrent and it works sometimes but takes like at least a few hours to download a cd usually more. my internet isnt the fastest but it isnt that slow either, www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest says it's 3 megs so that should be good enough to make it go faster i think?

I only got 1.1 meg on mine, maybe because its wireless. A cd takes an hour at most. You need to forward your ports to get good speeds.

the download speed has nothing to do with the program you use. It has to do with the amount of seeds.

how do you do that? i click random ports all the time and nothing happens so i tried using my limewire port because limewire is real fast for me and it didn't change anything.

I use napster. It's 10 bucks a month and you can have 3 computers on the account. Me and 2 friends split it, so it's only 3 bucks a month. It works out really well. Then use tunebite to take off the license and your good to go.

The problem with a site like napster is that you are paying for your music for the rest of your life. This means at ten bucks a month its about 120 a year. Multiply that by 30 years and that costs 3600 bucks. What happens if the company goes bust? Lots of lost cash. Sure you can strip DRM, but that is also illegal. According to the DMCA stripping DRM is illegal, just as bad as downloading illegally.

I remember a couple years ago the best thing I ever bought was a premium rapidshare account. Now it's iTunes and just loading CDs old skool. I'll still rapidshare leaks of albums though (I rikey the new Bloc Party), but odds are I'd be buying them anyway.

When I'm at school I use MyTunes. It allows you to download the music from other peoples iTunes that are on your same network. It works great in the dorms because I have access to about 300 different peoples music. It's not real useful though unless you live in a building with other people.

I live by BitTorrents. You can get old albums, new stuff, etc, etc. No viruses, no songs that are 30 seconds of the song and then that annoying hissing sound you used to get when downloading from Limewire or Kazaa.

You can usually get stuff a week or two in advance also. Like I've had the new Fall Out Boy CD for a couple weeks now, I also had the Shins album a week before it came out.

limewire works fine for me. being im not technically inclined, i found out only over the summer how to transfer limewire music to my iTunes. life is better now :)

Who's bragging? Anyways when you work as a DJ like I do you listen to and download all kinds off stuff. Sorry if your not a Fall Out Boy fan, I was just making a point as to you can get stuff early.
