What happened with Salming? I know the US distributorship is out of business, so will someone else pick up this line or what?

Has anyone seen any of this stuff in a LHS anyways?

I haven't seen any sticks but one of my LHS in tampa has some salming gloves... So maybe they might be hiding some sticks ;)

I had been replaced by a distributor who was to handle North America, but those parties had a falling out. His family owns one of the shops in Tampa, which is most likely where TBL found the gloves. My understanding is he only ordered gloves.

Salming was talking to distributors at the Toronto show, as well as told me they are considering establishing a satellite office in North America. Truthfully, that would probably be the best thing for them, unless they were to change their culture. It's been generally accepted by those involved that they put too much onus on their distributors.

I didn't see "Salming" in Toronto, just someone who had some Salming lacross sticks.

FWIW, one of my customers who loves the sticks but couldn't get them from me anymore bought them directly from Salming in Sweden. Had to pay shipping, but bought 6 so it wasn't too bad.

I would stock Salming again if there was a way to get them. Too bad, not one person who bought a Salming stick didn't like it and virtually all said they would buy them again.

I wouldn't mind trying out a salming stick... if what I hear is true and their quality on sticks is on par with their gloves; I don't see how you could be disappointed.

Please don't reward the guy who screwed Jason.

Well my LHS is run by the owner's son not the owner of the buisness(he runs the other shop) so I assume that his father was the one that made the deal. It's either that or drive an extra 15mins for basic stuff... or going online. It's not like I have 6 or 7 LHS locations to choose from. I also didn't make the name of the LHS public, just talking about the equipment so... yeah.

Somewhat related, I'm curious to know how large the hockey equipment distributer universe is. We all know it's a small world, so when we talk about stuff like this about how many make up the primary cartel of hockey equipment distribution?

Twenty?

Fifty?

One hundred?

Just wondering.

Sorry, I meant not to buy Salming, especially from them. Long before that ever happened they asked if I wanted to buy the shop. I'm surprised that they haven't unloaded it yet.

Oh ok. Gotcha.

I'm actually not a fan of that LHS but it is closer than the shop at ISF. If fact I think I've bought maybe 3 things from them ever.

But honestly, I can't say anything negative about Salming. I've seen two of their products(both different models of gloves) and was impressed with the quality. Regardless of their buisness practices it doesn't take away from the fact that I liked their product. I'm sorry if you might disagree, but that is my opinion on their gear... well at least their gloves.

Hey have you tried the Evolution Pro gloves? I've been using the PG1 gloves and I loved it.. unfortunately my palms are dying out.

Evolution gloves have great palms but the pro glow on the back was proven to be a bad idea a long time ago.

I actually really liked the way the evolution pros felt. Very unrestrictive(split cuff) very nice palm, extremely comfortable. Felt like a mix between vector pros and TPS Bionics. The PG1s I didn't care for too much, mainly because of the palm. The palm is just too thick and I can't stand the grip on the palm, that's actually why I chose the one90s over the vector pro gloves. In my opinion, grips should be on the fingertips or on a shaft, not on the palm of your glove.

If you like the One90 then you may like the new Vector 10, it looks like they tried to make it resemble a Nike glove as much as possible.

Yeah, I like the look of them but I'll make my decision on them after I see them in person. :)

I hope it doesn't have a grip palm again.
