anyone see martinek break his leg?

It hurt even to watch it. I had to turn my head the second time they showed it. Legs just aren't supposed to bend like that. I hope he recovers quickly/well.

No youtube video of it yet eh?

I really don't understand why someone would want to watch a guy break his leg. That's a bit sadistic and ghoulish to me.

Yeah it was pretty brutal, the hit was fair, it was just when he tried to get his balance back that his knee went back and the body came down.

I didn't see the hit, or anything relating to it. I am just curious..

It was nasty. Looked like his blade dug into the ice instead of sliding out from under him. Real big loss to the Isles, Martinek has quietly been one of the best defenders I've seen this year outside of the obvious big name guys in the league. He actually broke his foot during a Ranger game and played the next night on it a couple months ago

I didn't see it (I too would like to see the vid, just out of curiosity) but I hear the check by Latendresse which caused it wasn't much at all. Oh well, you've got to feel sorry for the guy, hate to see that kind of thing happen to anyone.

I was watching the game and I was just happy when I heard the next day that it was a break and he didn't tear up his knee.

He rode the check into the boards which lifted his body up a big. His back leg skate caught the ice at the toe. It got caught in an awkward position and bent back really nasty with all his weight on it.

Martinek is a cool guy, he shows up everynight and does his job well. He's old school

Yeah, I suppose it could have been a lot worse. I tore up my knee once and wasn't allowed to do sports or anything for 8 months! Needless to say it sucked. To hear that he could be back on the ice in 9 weeks is great news. I really like his playing style, he isn't flashy or anything, he is just a solid defenseman who goes out every night and does his job. He's a credit to the league.
