PITCH holder

Recommended Posts

Well, I took the plunge and upgraded to the S500 from my Pure Flies. Didn't really need to, but that's a different story. So I got them fitted yesterday, but opted out of the body balance contouring (for now...) that I had on the Flies, which had me set up for a 1.25mm forward stance on an 11ft radius. The Pitch holder is set on neutral at the moment.

I have two questions:

1) I tried fiddling with the pitch holder to see what the +1 setting was like and followed the instructions to the letter, but could not get the blade to move AT ALL. What am I doing wrong? Or is it just initial stiffness that nothing but more effort will resolve?

2) Anybody know what the drop in mm is for the +1 setting? Looking at it by eye and the markings of the -1 and N settings, it looks to be about 2mm, but just trying to tap the knowledge pool that I'm sure is out there.

I'm looking forward to skating in these tonight!

Do this on a rubber surface...

Take off both bolts...then tap the back down...It'll go into the -2 setting, but the front will come up. Just take it out, and reassemble and put your +1 setting on.

My S500 Pitch increments are approximately .100" (2.54 mm). Mine are also also extremely difficult to adjust following Missions instructions; I'll have to try the technique JR suggested.

Sorry guys, but I think the whole pitch thing sounds like a gimmick that won't be around for very long. What ever happened to that black bar torsion thing that Missions use to have?

Don't get me wrong, I hear Mission boots are great if you have narrow feet (I don't) but to me, the gimmicky stuff comes and goes faster than the seasons.

Good luck with them.

Sorry, you are dead wrong on this one.

Easily the most revolutionary concept in bladeholders in 25 yrs. Yes..since the Tuuk.

The Drive Shaft failed because they paired it with a composite outsole. The DS is still used on skates with PU outsoles.

I have wide feet and I do just fine. Seems that you're judging them on mistakes they made 6 yrs ago. Lots has changed.

Misinformation is worse than none.

Actually I like my pitch holders, though I prefer the neutral setting since I switch from offense to defense all of the time. As long as the parts that allow for change don't break over time, I think it's a great feature that could save some customers a bunch of money.

The driveshaft was there to keep the holder as stiff as possible. They learned that it has to give a little or the breaks too easily. Some brands change their holders every year or two, no knocking them?

I wear a EE in every skate except Tacks and Mission is no different.
