Most used skate

Recommended Posts

I hope every question is normal here, guys. :P

Does anyone know which skate model is used the most in NHL nowadays????

I have my own ideas, but is Vapor XXX on its way down?

Is One90 going up?

How many plays with Easton, Graf, CCM etc?

I would be glad for some kind of smart answer. :)

At the Dallas/Detroit game last night out of 12 guys on the ice at any time, maybe 4 were wearing non Vapor XXX. Heck even, Jere Lehtinen who has worn Grafs for years is now in a Vapor XXX, with Graf Cobra holders though.

Exact numbers change from week to week.

I would be glad for some kind of smart answer. :)

Good luck with that. You're going to get lots of supposition and guessing and more than a few "me too" posts.

Haha thanx Chadd, what could I expect?

Thanx for the quick answers.

Me myself took a chance, with Easton Synergy 1500C, which are fantastic!

But I´m really not close NHL. :)

If we consider Bauer Supreme line / 8090 and One90 as one model, since all three evolved from Supreme line, then I think that's the most popular one.

Cheers

One90 is entirely different in materials and construction.

Hes been in Bauer for quite a few seasons now. We got some in the month at Farmers Branch...they were weird to say the least. His ankles flare open quite a bit...

I knew he wore Graf, never really started paying close attention until MSH infected me.

As a matter of fact, just saw a report on NHL usage, 623 NHL players covered:

For skates:

NBH: 381 players, 61.2%

2nd place: 119 players, 19.1%

3rd place: 56 players, 9%

For blades:

NBH: 493 players, 79.1%

2nd place: 75 players, 12%

Like JR said, these numbers can fluctuate a bit, as players make changes, try things out, etc. The numbers above are a snapshot.

Cheers,

KC

Ok....?

So Nike Bauer on first place, but what brand has 19%, what has got 9%??

Seems to be a big lead for NBH, but Ive seen a lot of players with RBK 9k, CCM Vector, etc etc, but maybe you dont notice when so many players flyes on NBH skates.

Thanks for the real numbers, facts are always appreciated. #2 has to be RBK/CCM, though I really would have expected that to be a higher number.

Question about those stats... do blades mean steel runners? holders? stick blades? does nbh manufacture tuuks? i would guess ccm/rbk in second and easton in third... wonder where graf is...

Blades refers to holders. Nike Bauer holders in use in the NHL are the following:

Tuuk Plus

Lightspeed 2

Lightspeed 2 Power

ICM (yes, still 7-odd die-hards out there)

Lehtinen has worn Bauers for the most part not Grafs--he has had 7000s, Vapor 10s and now XXXs. And his holders are the old ICM holders--not Graf Cobra. But I agree Bauer has the most market share in the NHL.

Could have sworn he wore Grafs a few years back. I found a better picture of his holders, sure enough they aren't Cobras.

I've seen a lot of players wear the Rbk minus the pumps over the last couple years. Is Chelios still sporting the old style CCMs? 652s?

Actually, I think #2 just might be Easton.

Thank you for all your good answers, you are as crazy as me, that feels good.

I am a bit of Easton fan, but are they number two in quantity of skates in NHL?

I´ve seen quite many RBK and CCM, but I believe you.
