I looked at the Arch support threads, and couldn't

Recommended Posts

I know everyone hates the same questions over and over, I do too, but I looked at the superfeet/arch threads already, and I couldn't find the answer to my question.

Basically, my skates have at this stage been broken in, and I am noticing on the left foot, that it feels like I am almost stepping on the arch on the skate, if that makes sense.

Right where the arch is, I really feel pain there now, and can feel the skate arch on my foot.

My question is this, do I need to get arch support to raise my foot shape over this, or get my skate punched out there because it's too narrow.

Cheers, and sorry if this question was asked, I couldn't find it

I had that sorta feeling for a while in my foot...I added some new insoles after reading one of the threads, Shockdoctors, and it felt fine to me.

So the problem is probably my feet being a little flat, rather than the skate needing punching then.

I wasn't sure, the other threads dealt with the merits of the arch support, but I just wasn't sure if that was my issue.

Thanks hockeymom, I will try them, I know the REI beside me carries them

What I suspect has happened: as your skate broke in, your foot settled nicely down into the heel but that also had your arch lower a titch - causing you pain. The SuperFeet will support the arch properly.

AllSmoke, are you already using SuperFeet?

No, just the standard skate insoles

Ahh... then get SuperFeet. Bet they will solve the problem.

I know I'M a believer in Superfeet! I couldn't imagine not having them in a pair of skates I was using and pushing against a flat surface ever again.

Last time I did this was a couple years back when I was breaking in my Bauer 5000s while doing 4 consecutive games of an adult tourney. I'd sold my old pair of Superfeet with my old skates and hadn't as yet bought a new pair for the 5000s. By the third game, I could no longer feel my feet and there was intense pain along the bottom of each foot. I have no idea how I made it through all four games. Anyways, I pretty much couldn't walk the next day and had to ice the soles of my feet all day. Now, the boots had been heat fit, so the break in pain shouldn't have been as great as it was based on previous experiences. I bought a new pair of Superfeet for my skates and wore them the next time I skated and had absolutely no problems.

This is a great product, I highly recommend them!

If you're looking the grey ones that are marketed for skates, I'd call to the REI you plan on going to first. The one by me didn't have them, and I ended up having them ordered for me by a specialty shoe store in the area.

With my duck feet, I'm loving the inserts. They're also a lot easier to pull out of the skates to dry.

if you don't have much room to spare in your boot depth-wise, go with Superfeet black... they're wider, and made for low-volume footwear. REI does stock the black ones. They work just as well as the grey ones, and give your foot a little more room.

I am having the same foot pains as you right now ever since switching to my grafs. I bought the superfeet greys, and at first they hurt like crazy where my arch was, but I think I'm getting more accustomed to them now, and it is definitely starting to feel better than my stock footbed.

A question for other superfeet users though, I had to loosen my laces for the initial pain to go away. Was it supposed to be unbearable at first? I'm kind of wondering if I have always been tying my laces too tight making the pain worse than it should've been?

I used the grey ones for about 6 months. I had the same issues as you... had to loosen my skates up way too much (plus, being in a boot too wide for me) and it caused some fit issues for me. I noticed the grey Superfeet are thicker than your standard insole.

That's why I picked up the black Superfeet. They're specifically for low-volume footwear.. I tried the black ones, and I don't have to give so much slack in my laces.

Do you have a flat foot as well? I find that loosening my laces is the only way for the pain to go away, but i am kind of getting used to it. I'm using a pair of graf 703's right now, so I'm pretty sure that is a low-volume skate. Are the black superfeets designed for skates as well?

The black superfeet are wider than the grey, is that correct?

Does anyone know if they will work widthwise in standard D size Supreme 30 skates.

I was over at REI lastnight, and they only have Black and Blue

I ordered my grey ones from onlineshoes.com. They will match prices from other stores. I got them today and they fit well in my Vectors. I imagine if the black are too wide you would just trim them.

Just as a note, I bought some greys to go in my 6.5EE Nike Quest 1's. They were actually a little too narrow, and tended to slide occasionally. The blacks fit perfectly.

I have an old pair of 652 Tacks (bought very used and already broken down), not the version that Chelios wore but the next version with the bigger heel wedge. The insoles were the " CCM Supra Form" insoles. I haven't ordered my Superfeet yet, but I may not because these insoles provide some pretty decent arch support, much more than the factory throw-in insoles. With my One90's heat molded to my foot and these I truly have zero negitive space! I skated them with the insoles last night, extensions of my feet I'll tell ya! Has anyone heard of these CCM insoles? I'd love to get more somewhere.

I just bought a pair of Graf 502 SE and changed the holder to the cobra...(from t'blade) .... on my right skate I feel like the arch is a little forward and it's hitting closer to my toes. It feels like Im skating uphill.. sort of.

You guys think superfeet should do it or a punch job?

Thank fellas
