Viking 1 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 I'm not 100% sure how a rink/shop owner acting like that is going to help their business, or make anybody want to shop at their store. I know LHS people don't want to compete with online stores, but those websites exist, so they're going to have to. Some people are going to choose to shop at them, and you can't bully people into shopping at your store over going online to save money. If saving that money is more important to someone than the service at the store, that's where they're going to go. It's such a stupid attitude that people have some kind of an obligation to shop at these stores. It's not a charity, it's a business - I'm not morally obligated to keep your store in business; your store has to be competitive and fulfill my needs, and keep me happy as a customer. And if it does that, I'm going to shop there for that reason - not to keep you in business, or so you'll make more money, but because I'm happier with what I get there than with what I'd get somewhere else. The guy in that thread said he was going to go to the store anyway, so perhaps this store is good enough that it doesn't have to do crap like that. Whether they try and hide it or not, that store is going to have that competition online, and I'm sure everyone on that board knows it. If you own a store, criticism, and competition are part of doing business.... Everyone is wrong in this case, though, because that is the rink's website, so they have a right to decide what people say on there. But you also have the right to never spend another nickel at their store.
ktang 34 Report post Posted March 2, 2007 This is an interesting situation. It's like going into a store and putting up advertisements for a competing store; the store's website and forum can be considered to be part of the store. So I can see why reaper07 got banned. But was that an overly aggressive reaction? Maybe a warning and explanation first would have been a better response.I was tossed out of a McDs once (when I was a kid) for bringing in KFC. Everybody else in the group wanted hamburgers, and I wanted fried chicken. After that, we went to BKs as much as possible.
IntoGear 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Well this gonna start a riot but...Maybe if the rink shop helped the dude out when he went the the first time looking for info instead of making him go on line to get help this could have been avoided. Now that the shop has done this I have to ask... Reaper, will you ever spend another dime in that shop?I doubt it...so the shop lost two customers... great way to do business! And it does smack of censorship.Just my 2 cents... take it or leave it.That's the same as walking into a shop and telling a customer that they can get something a couple bucks cheaper in another shop, I've never done that. As for censorship, it's their website and they can do that. You don't have a right to say or do whatever you want, in any place, at any time.
mack 44 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Go to Easton's board and start talking about other products and watch those posts disappear. It's not too difficult of an issue to wrap one's head around.Censorship? Duh, it's their site.
