How can NHLers afford to be reluctant to try another product if it will improve their game and make them better players? Why then did all the players move away from wood sticks to OPS? Performance??

For the most part, NBH skates are great and the service for our members has been top notch. That has not been the case for all customers and with all products. I can't count the number of times I had people bring in brand new vapors (XV and XX) that were screwed up and NBH did not want to replace them. They have also benefited from a top-notch marketing program that has them dominating the hockey market in general.

What NHL players use is irrelevant to me and should be for most consumers. Obviously, that's not how most customers think. Most manufacturers utilize the pro market for marketing and it has been very successful. People should be trying on everything that's out there and picking what fits them best, the quality and number of the options out there is amazing. Instead they are walking into shops or buying online simply because of the advertising.

Some guys refuse to change brands because that's what they've always used. It happens all of the time at every level, even the pros. As for the sticks, I know several pros who switched to OPS simply because everyone else was switching and while they didn't feel a difference, they didn't want to be missing out on something. That info comes directly from an NHL player.

i think jr hit the nail on the head with the comment about the pros not wanting to switch what theyre used to, even if the only thing theyre used to is a company name. many of them probably began their careers in bauers, and, barring a fit problem etc, probably were reluctant to try new products that came onto the market from other companies. personally, i was brought up in bauer, and now when i hear about ccm coming out with a new skate, it means almost nothing to me, as i am so set in my bauer way. in other words, a pro who grew up on bauer would probably be willing to try a bauer vapor xx or xxx because it is a bauer skate, but if it was a mission vapor xx or xxx (same skate) it probably never would have become the icon of a skate that it has.

anyways, back to the original subject...

my tendon guard broke too and i'm going to bring it in to the LHS i bought it from. he said that if it's a warranty issue they'll replace it with their own stock. how long is the warranty, 1 year? wish me luck!

Around here, at the retail and college level, no one uses mission skates because consensus is that they are absolutely hideous. As dumb as that may seem it is reality.

Sorry to jack this topic, but i have had my one90s for about a year now and they have finally started to seperate from the sole (the glue). So is it okay to just glue it back together with some super glue? I know when they first came out they had this problem but I was allways super careful about taking them off.

ok the LHS told me they're out of warranty because they're past the 3 month warranty. that's pretty shitty cause it's only been 4 months. is there anyone i can contact at NBH to see if they can fix this? 1 month past the warranty and they won't cover it? it's not like i took a hacksaw to it or had my dog chew it off...

The fact that these are your second pair of skates shouldn't make a difference in whether or not Bauer will replace them. Historically Nike was great with replacing shoes that basically fell apart. They would often send you out 2 pairs of shoes to keep you happy.

I'm like that too, for years and years I bought Easton sticks and nothing but Easton. I did it without even thinking it would just soo happen that I would go to the store to buy a stick and I'd always come home with an Easton. They're sticks have always done good by me. There may be better sticks out there, but I don't want to switch because I like Easton and now have a loyalty to them.
