CREW composite replacement blades...anyone tried?

Recommended Posts

I came across these CREW blades on eBay. They are really cheap for complete composite blades. I read and email a few prevoius buyers and they all replied back with positive feedbacks. I thought I take a chance and picked up a few. Shipping is very reasonable too.

Anyone here have first hand experience with these blades?

What a strange picture to use. I find that with hockey gear, just like lapdances...you get what you pay for. Never heard of this brand and it just looks sketch.

THE HOLLOW HOSEL ALLOWS THE TRANSFER OF PUCKS FASTER THAN ANY OTHER GRAPHITE BLADE ON THE MARKET.

A hollow hosel? I've never heard of that before.

I think its the same company that makes the RB's for Tour

So in other words, a 4th tier type of brand.

I think for a few bucks more ($29 US), you can use an Easton ST blade and get a better value.

I'm fairly certain those are the same blades Crew made for Tour, just without the finishing touches and paint. Crew also makes the "crow" holders that Tour uses on their ice skates and has also made a few shafts for them a few years back.

I got a few of the Tour blades on the cheap and tried them out. They are thick, heavy, and have very little in the way of puck feel. For that price on eBay, they're a good rec inline or street hockey blade but I wouldn't expect very much from them.

Nike Bauer's are hollow.

Black Beauty's also appear to be hollow hosel too

I picked up four of their standard curve blades, two for a buddy and two for myself. I should get them by the end of this week.

I emailed the seller about the weight, and was told 6oz...about 170 grams...not too heavy.

Bumped for the verdict. Are they trash or ok for the price?

I have one, I bought it to check it out.

They are actually pretty light... Well it's been awhile since I picked up a compsite blade but it feels like nothing compared to a good ole woodie.

It seems to be a plastic blade and feels and looks like the finish of ice court.

It doesn't have the smooth glossy finish like most name brand composite blades.

It's summer here and the heat index is over 100 degrees I went to the outside rink and shot a puck around and it seemed to work really well. It also held up well and just had scuffs on the bottom.

Indoor, the blade doesn't seem like it has enough "friction" to get a hard shot off... even with tape... maybe because its lighter I'm not sure. I've tried it taped and no tape... taped is a lot better... but it seems like I am losing a lot on my shots.

I've used it for two games though and the 2nd game my shaft broke in the 1st period... so I dont have a lot of experience with them.

I'll let you know more.

be the guinea pig and test the out for everyone here, they're only $10 you might as well try them.

...plus the 7 bucks shipping. Still...might be worth it just to try and see.

If they were really anything special, we wouldve heard something about them by now.

Yep, I agree with that. Maybe they're mediocre and worth the money though?

I am looking forward to using it in my outdoor league. I think it will hold up really well and performance won't suffer.
