Stars practices are free, and most days you'd be hard pressed to find 20 people there with the exception of the eBay autograph "collectors".

I was just going to say, it makes me appreciate the caps new facility a little more. Completely open and free, and they come out and mingle with the fans after almost every practice (sometimes the skip it on gameday)

When the Canucks train at their practice facility (Canlan Burnaby 8 Rinks) it's free to watch. They even have a balcony with seating. If you don't want to be in the cold you can watch through a window in the comfort of a heated, cafeteria type setting.

When the Canucks practice at General Motors Place (their home rink) it's closed. In this instance they're opening it up, but to figure out how many will show up they're using TicketMaster to manage the inventory.

As mentioned, the $2.50 is a TicketMaster charge. The Canucks will have to absorb the cost for ushers and security. I'm guessing they'll have some concessions operating to help with the expenses.

This is a good thing. The skills competition is a sell out. Due to the popularity of the team they can't just open the doors of GM Place and let people walk in at will.

Amen. The Flyers do the same at the SkateZone in Vorhees. Completely free to the public. Some of the guys slip out the side, but for the most part they are very obliging with the fans after practice.

It's pretty amazing that a hockey team fills their building for a practice.
