Nike Bauer P88 curve question

Recommended Posts

i went from to a modo/forsberg to the P88 and i did notice it was a little more curve but its the same type of curve so it's pretty easy to get used to.

I own both, and yeah P88 Lindros has a much bigger curve, lie 6 while Forsberg has a lie 5.5 mid-heel curve that's a bit shallower.

Forsberg (and most clones) are a 5 lie.

Years ago (at least 6-8 years, before composite blades/OPS/tapered combos were commonly being used) the P88 was a lot closer to the the modo/forsberg, but not anymore. I used to love the 330 RBs in the old Lindros curve, and can't stand the newer curve.

Can someone explain to me what that means though? So if I currently have a P88 and start using a Forsberg, what will I have to do to adjust to it? or how will it perform differently with same style?

(I have been using a P88 and just bought a Forsberg and played for the first time with it last night and had trouble lifting the puck. I could get it up a couple feet, but couldnt chip past the goalie as easy. I am trying to decide if I want to just stick with the P88 or learn to adapt to both)

Well the P88 is a 1/2" MID curve, PM9 is a 3/8" MID-HEEL curve. The PM9 is slightly open whereas the P88 is neutral.

I like to take my shots more or less where the curve starts. So on a P88 it would be more in the middle, on the PM9 more towards the heel. The PM9 can lift shots no problem, you just have to get enough spin on the puck and roll your wrists up a little bit.

If you just want to shovel it up in the crease, try just flicking it up with the toe. You can almost scoop it to flick it up. You can do almost anything with the curve, although it's better at keeping the puck lower than higher.

I wanted a PM9 that was a bit more open to get shots up faster, so I did this with a heat gun:

Now it lifts pucks easier but can still fire low and the wristers are much easier than a Drury (although I haven't had enough time to practice with my Drury).

P88 has a much bigger rocker on the bottom of the blade than the P9/Modano/Forsberg.

How does having a big rocker on the blade affect the lie vs a more straight bottom, or does it. Or in general what does a bigger rocker do for a blade.

Thanks, as always!
