MoCorleone

My 15 second Warrior Dolomite stick

Flexing in the shop really proves nothing. You'll know whether you are going up or down in flex by the number or ranking. Seeing how much in the shop really doesn't impact your on-ice expectations much.

When I'm buying a stick model that I haven't used before, I do check to see how much force it takes to make the stick start to bend. It makes a difference to me.

When I'm buying sticks, I do a quick "flex check" on each one, in which I just kinda load the shaft a little. With all the complaints of shafts being mis-marked, you can't be too careful; I'd hate to get all of my sticks onto the ice and realize that I've got myself three sticks at an 85 flex with an odd-ball 100 thrown in there.

^ for sure . I always have a light flex, basically putting a bit of weight in , not near what you would on the ice , but enough to test it and make a decision. It's kind of hard to say you don't need to flex a stick when buying it because in my case i do.

Exactly. With different tapers and whatnot it is nice to see where the stick flexes and how much force it takes to flex the stick, nothing more than pressure from the wrists needs to be applied and only for a second.

If I'm happy with the curve, flex and kickpoint and stiffness of blade; I'll lightly tap the blade on the floor(if there is carpet) and listen for awkward sounds.

But I'm also extremely picky.

There's a big difference between applying light pressure on a stick to get a feel for it similar to a shooting motion, and bending the hell out of it with all of your body weight.

15 seconds is nothing. A buddy of mine had a brand new yellow Synergy last year, skated to the opening faceoff, which we lost, went to cut the dumped puck off at the boards and his blade snapped in half. He was using a different stick for warmups, so the Synergy lasted for about 5 seconds.

What happened MoCorleone? Did Warrior replace it?

Yeah, they replaced it almost immediately. i shipped it out on a Tuesday and the replacement stick was at my door on Monday..i was worried they would just send me any draper Dolomite and not check the lie but they sent me the exact 6 lie stick, in the biggest, heaviest box, i've ever received a stick in.

Exactly why some people, including myself, stay away from Easton. I had a teammate who broke 2 brand new Si-cores in a period. Had just bought them right before the game. After he broke the replacements he got for those 2 he switched brands. In fact most of the guys using Eastons quit buying them and switched.
