Bladetape

Yet the segment with Ron Maclean and Brian Kilrea before the game tonight, Maclean had regular tape on his stick...

Maybe your right but I don't think those videos were made that recently, so he wouldnt have the blade tape then.

That or theres a sponsorship arrangement where all the sticks are supplied. It seems like everyone's stick is taped the same.

He was using a XXX Lite.

Regardless, it's not anything revolutionary and it will fall away by the wayside. Some people will swear by it but it won't catch on.

To be honest, I don't really understand what was so revolutionary about it in the first place. I know my brother has been using Tacki-mac and similar products since the 90's.

I'm assuming this was the Think Hockey segment?... I didn't see the pregame tonight, but I'm pretty sure that's old footage. They've aired a few Maclean/Kilrea Think Hockey segments all season, and had them on their website a long time. It seems like the guys aren't using their own sticks in those segments for whatever reason (sponsorship I guess, since Ron's xxx lite has been the only non-rbk stick I can recall) - I seem to remember one time the guest instructor said that the stick they gave him was the wrong hand.

Alright I bought a pair just for kicks and tried it out. A few things:

-it grips on the puck much better. i could actually scoop up the puck a la Crosby.

-weight is the same as adding tape.

-shooting, stickhandling, puckfeel is the same....if you have hands of stone to begin with what makes you think you'll be able to stick hard passes.

-durability...well its much better than what most ppl here think considering those guys haven't tried the actual product but i ripped mine because my stick got caught on the boards.

so would i buy another pair? probably not. aside from being now able to do a move that doesn't really serve me any purpose it's the same thing as using tape with a good wax job.

how bad you rip yours? Because it says just make sure the water is out of the area and push the area back down.

been using the blade tape for 2 and a half yrs now

franklin first now "blade tape"

use to love taping my stick and waxing it all up(snapwax for those who want to know)

but the blade tape lasts forever and is easily repairable

and contrary to popular belief there is minor snow buildup which u can rub off and the bottom of the blade does not get destroyed easier cuz there is no tape holding it together

no effort all pay off

Is bladetape the same as the franklin shot-tek?

I tried the Franklin stuff but I hated it. I think when it came out it was for roller hockey. The feel was just a little different. Maybe if I used it a little longer I mite of liked it...

I picked up a set of these at the Hockey Expo this weekend. Used it in last nights game. It does give a LOT more grip and spin. I would say there was probably a 25% increase in shot velocity (although I'm also using a new shaft and blade and trying a different shooting technique). The accuracy was off a bit, but that could be the longer stick, different shooting style, or the new curve. It did rip a bit at the bottom, but not enough to mess up the grip.

I'll see how long it lasts and report back.

I have both, the franklin is slightly different. Basically the same stuff other than BT cost about 5$ more than the franklin stuff.

I got a free sample of Bladetape for doing some survey a year ago off of some blog. I put it on my backup stick which has a wood blade. It's lasted a year of stick/pucks, drop-ins, and occasional game duty. It's got a slight tear, but it doesn't effect anything. Just had to push the torn piece back down. Snow accumulation is still there, but a lot less than normal tape. The tacimat was a lot better for snow accumulation, but sucked for everything else. Bladetape is extremely grippy.

The downside is that there is no coverage over the toe or top of the blade which can lead to nicks/chips of the blade. I was also sent a long strip of the material that can be used as a handle wrap, so I took that and cut it down and put it along the top of the blade and toe. A bit sloppy looking, but provides more coverage.

Last week I ordered a few more sets off of the Bladetape website because they've got factory blems for cheap. So now I'll be using the stuff on all of my sticks.

Been using bladetape for over a year. Play hockey twice a week. It lasted up to a year. It weighs less than tackimac. It definitely has more grip than regular tape, especially backhand shots. Ice buildup is less than regular tape. You can control the puck better. The only drawback is that you have to get use to no tape on the bottom of the blade. I think you can actually stick handle better without tape on bottom.

Where is that at? I didn't see anywhere on the site where you could buy it. I bought a set on ebay for 6 bucks and liked it, was looking to find some more but it costs like twice that most places.

I ended up taking mine off after a few games. I couldn't say for sure if it was bad or good, put more spin on the puck but deadened the feel. I'd try it again, but certainly wasn't a miracle. I could see how it might take some speed of a slapper.

I feel like I get more feel or less pinginess with the bladetape on my XN10 Chrome stick. I just put some tape along the bottom of the blade and throw on the bladetape. Works well for me
