XXXX Skates are in and a question.

Probably because he thought re-baking would fix his blister and pinching problems. Guess it didn't.

Try socks and see how you do. It probably won't help, but I guess it's worth a shot.

Where abouts on your feet are the blisters occuring. If they are fitting correctly this shouldn't happen unless the skates are too wide thus causing the movement in them. I ould go back to the shop where you got them from and be refitted

Leafs, my blisters are on the inside of each foot right above my arch. They are all calluses now but who knows after my game tonight. I am bringing them to the guy I bought them from tonight to see what he says. I would rather not use socks but if I have to ill give them a shot. If my feet open up again I am going to see if he will maybe send the ones I have back to bauer as defected and hopefully go down a half size. Thats just wishful thinking, doubt it will work.

my friend bought a pair of new vapors and he started having blisters on his ankle for 2 days, afterwards I think it was gone. Leafs has a point there and hes pretty much right fit is important.

I had the exact same problem with my one90's. however, mine was caused by the socks i was wearing rubbing on my foot. I went out and spent $10/pr on nike skate socks and they are really thin and in my opinion, worth the price. they are the only socks i will wear with my skates now.

Sorry to bring back a relatively old topic, but this is the one that suits my line of questioning best, so here goes...

I currently have a pair of retail One90s, size 7D, which I've been using on and off for a while. I've always liked the lightness of the boot (noticeable versus my older Grafs) and the fit of the skate when I lace 'em up. Problems start to crop up though once I hit the ice with them. For one thing, I've never seemed to be able to feel as balanced as I'd like on these skates. I've tried different profiles/radiuses, Superfeet, heel lifts, but nothing has quite gotten me there. The other problem is that if I skate in these for a long session, I develop blisters / sores right above my ankle bone on the outside of both feet - super painful. I've tried Easton grey hockey socks, dress socks but to no avail. This might have something to do with the fact that I leave the top eyelet undone to get the forward lean I feel I need (even with heel lifts).

That all said, I'm thinking of trying the Vapor line as generally people have said good things about these skates. Here's the issue. I can get a very good deal on a pair of new Vapor XXXX which are basically the sales rep's sample (don't feel like paying the full retail prices here in Canada). They are a size 7D just like my One90s. I tried the skates on today. Sitting down, my big toes are just grazing the edge of the toe box. When I stand and walk around, though, my toes push up against the edge of the toe box, not crushed but enough that I'm concerned that once I get on the ice it might get painful. They don't push like this in my One90s. I'm guessing that the extra padding in the heel area of the XXXXs is making my foot sit further forward relative to the One90s. Unfortunately there is no size 7.5D in the XXXX at that price, so that's not an option. So my questions are:

- With use, will the heel area of the XXXXs "give" some, allowing my foot to sit further back?

- The person at the shop is suggesting to put the boots onto a machine overnight to "stretch" and create more room in the toe area. I'll plead ignorance on this one. Is this doable? Will it damage the integrity of the skate?

Thanks for any input.

I went from a 7.5D Bauer 8000 to a 7D Vapor XXXX. Trying the XXXX's on in the store I had the same issue. After they were baked, my heel slipped back enough so that when I lace them up I cannot feel the toecap.

I had them bake the skates and I laced them up. Initially, it felt like I had more room (sitting) but when I stood up and walked around I was getting the toe pressure. Sounds from the stretching thread that adding a 1/4 size or so could do the trick....

While standing, do your toes pull off the toe cap a bit when you bend your knees over your toes (essentially a skating posture with your weight more toward the balls of your feet)?

On another note, the tag stitched to these skates says "Made in Canada". Does this mean they're not retail, or perhaps from an early run of the skates? Again, I'm told that these skates were the sales rep's sample.
