TBLfan 25 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I remember my first goal with my current team(this season). I dropped back(I was playing LW) to cover for a defenseman that skated the puck in. There was a shot on goal and the puck squirted out to their defenseman. He chipped it out but it hit of a stick and fell between our defenseman's feet near the heels. I could tell that he didn't know where it was at. He was near the top of the left circle and a little to the right of the faceoff dot. I pinched in from point, pulled the puck out from between his legs, cut towards the slot and ripped a wrist shot glove side and in. A couple games later I got my second, there was a turnover and that same defenseman mentioned earlier skated the puck in while we were changing. I followed him in because it was a 2 on 2. He put a shot on goal as the RW from the bench got near the net and a little to the left(I was already sitting backdoor). A few smacks from the defenseman than a whack by the other winger and the puck bounced off the goalie's stick and into the air. I knocked it out of the air into the net.Congrats on your first, keep working and more will come.
Hockeydog 8 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 Way to go 'smoke!! I remeber my first ..... ahem, back to reality, goal as well. I was camped on the goal line just to the right of the goalie, my center was at the left faceoff dot and passed it hard to me. I stuck my stick out and deflected it in on my backhand. I remeber staring at the puck in the back of the net thinking " I just scored" !! I didn't really celebrate for myself becuase it was a great pass, but my teammates told me I was right were I should have been and to enjoy it. That puck is still being shot around on that rink somewhere! Let us know when you score your second and third, I remeber those as well. And then it ends!! AnthonyJTa 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Congrats, Smoke!....I was in the same boat until last night. I was spending almost 2 hours every Tuesday and Thursday for the last 3 weeks firing pucks.... before I netted one last night, I was actually laughing, and joking around with a teammate within earshot... I looked up and saw my opportunity, and BAM!... I was laughing again. I feel a huge burden off of my back now.. hahaI guess I took my own advise, and lightened up like I mentioned in another thread. topshelf11 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Sweet! What a feeling, eh?I remember mine in squirts, centering pass at the top of the crease, shot it right through the 5 hole. Then I didn't score for a long time, until pee wees, when I scored 2 in 1 game, including a wraparound. Now in men's league, I average a goal a game, mostly rebounds and from in tight by crashing the net. The boys on my team make jokes like if you added up the total distance of all the goals I scored this year, it wouldn't reach the blue line. Like I care! :D

ncst8 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Smoke,I know how you feel. I am playing in my first ever league this year and got moved up to wing the other night. With about two minutes left in the first period I was camped out in front of the net a picked up a deflection off of the boards behind the goal and put it in the back of the net for my first ever goal of any kind. The best part was, I picked up my second and third in less than 10 minutes for my first ever hat trick in the same game. After that, they moved me back to defense because any one player can only score three goals in a game before they no longer count. What a blast. I love this game even more now. davezilla 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Congratulations Smoke! It's the beginning of something wonderful. Pretty soon you'll be scoring so much you won't even remember your first. :DI still remember my first goal ever in peewee though. I had a fat total of 2 assists in the entire regular season. During the 3rd period of my first playoff game, we went on a 2 on 1. The defender aggressively attacked the puck carrier and somehow the puck squirted loose towards me and sent me on a breakaway. Instead of hearing footsteps behind me and throwing a soft shot into the goalie like I did on so many previous occasions, I faked forehand and tucked it backhand into a wide open net. From then on, the game felt like it was moving at half speed. I had 2 goals the next game, and the GWG in the championship game. The following season I tied for the top goal scorer on our team. hip check 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 You're going to have to hang that stick up over the mantel now.My grandfather asked the ref for the game puck when I scored my first goal. He made it into a small plaque commemorating the glorious event. That was about 30 years ago - and it is still one of the most vivid hockey memories I have.Congrats on the milestone, may there be many more for you!
KBO25 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Congrats man!!!!That's what I love about this site, any player at any stage gets congrats for his/her 1st goal. No BS, no big leaguing, just a sincere congrats, awesome....I remember my first goal. I never played in high school or before, so I jumped into a beer league, my friend was the goalie. It took me a few games, but I got the puck in the slot and fired a crappy shot. But the goalie was screened and it went in...Awesome feeling. On my team this year we had a guy who was playing in his first "real" games. I remember how happy everyone was to get him his first goal.We went on to win our league championship, and he scored again in the champioship game(last goal in an 8-4 runaway)
nni 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 congrats!!! you never forget your first time.mine was in high school, shot from the point about 3 feet wide, i deflected it in, it was perfect, i will never be able to repeat that ever again.
kosydar 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 I remember I didn't even get credit for mine. It wasn't like it was tipped or anything, the ref just wasn't really paying attention. As an eight year old that made me feel great.

Jarick 5 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 Funny thing, tonight I moved up (finally) in level, played with some much better guys, and had a few one-timer chances. Buried my first one-timer ever! When I got to the bench, the guy who fed me turns to me and says "hey that was the first time I got an assist on a one-timer!" :D Good luck Smoke!
technophile 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 I got my first two organized goals this season too--must be a good year for goal scoring. :)I play defense, but this season I've been playing a little more offensively when I get the chance (my teammates have teased me a couple of times about seeing me set up behind the opponent's net like Gretzky ;) but I only do it when I know I have coverage back). My first goal, there was a scramble in front of the net and the other team had pretty much collapsed down, so the high slot area was completely empty (no opponent above the faceoff dots). I'd noticed that when that happens, a lot of times the puck will squirt free right up the center of the ice, so I snuck down a little bit and sure enough the puck ended up right in the center of the ice, about 20' from the goal--right in front of me. I hurried my shot a little bit, but the goalie was already down and it deflected off his upper arm and in. It was our 7th goal in an eventual 8-5 win, so it wasn't like it was an important goal or anything, but it felt nice to finally see one go in.My second goal was much prettier. I was playing left D (I usually play right), and had joined a rush to try and get a goal in a 0-0 game. The left wing stayed back to cover the point, so I stayed low and eventually cycled the puck back up to that left point, then set up right in front of the goal, just outside the crease, with one defender nearby. The left point sent me a hard pass along the ice, and I managed to get the toe of my blade on it and redirect it right up into the stick-side corner of the net; the goalie never had a chance. My new goal is to actually score a "defenseman's" goal, from back at the blue line. I need to work on my slapshot. :D

Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2007 I am officially playing at a point per game pace.We just had our third game (won't mention the 14-0 drubbing last week in which there were several b-leaguers on the other team), and I had the primary assist on the first goal, and scored the second.1 G 1 A 2 mins for roughing for the game.2G 1A 2PIMs in 3 games so far.Being put in a league that is more suited to my level has really helped me, both confidence wise and for developing. flyerman 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2007 I made a topic here on Sept 27th 2006 HERE, saying I didn't think I would ever get a point.Well, exactly 7 months to the day (4/27/7) I began a new league at the Capitals new practice facility.First game was tonight. We were 2-1 up with 3.46 left in the second, I was playing left wing. Center went behind the net, I moved across to the front, puck came to me, I shot, hit the goalie on the left pad, skipped up, and behind him. He made another attempt to get it, but it squeezed in.And that was it, my first ever goal of any kind in league play, ever. And it wasn't a bounce of my arse, or a deflection of my leg, it was an honest to goodness shot that went in.I would like to thank those who told me earlier that my blade would be cool enough to play with, and Chadd, for selling me the Black Beauty BB9 blade, as well as Buzz-Lightbeer for the old assed easton shaft it was put into.New league - $400Blade and shaft combo from MSH sell section - $25Scoring my first goal ever ever ever - priceless!!!!Sorry, had to tell someone apart from the wife, so opened a beer, put on the playoffs and told my story :lol:Awesome! You won't forgot that one. Bet you can't wait to get back on the ice for more! Keep shooting that puck, brother!PS What's the Letterkenny, Donegal reference?
