Defender skate

With more and more people getting hurt from taking shots off the foot why dont they make a defender model skate? With all the technology they have today I'd thnk that they would do well with a skate for defenders and guys like Holmstrom who are always in front of the net and shots.

You mean a composite skate like a Kor or Synergy? Or how about the CCM or RBK with the padding in the side?

All these guys are still wearing covers and shields of some sort over these skates so I would have to say something with more padding in the side then any of the above and actually market it as a defender skate.

I think it would be more worthwhile to make those spat things more available. I don't see a market for developing a specialized skate model like that.

in the old days of kangaroo leather and such...ankle guards were a necessary addition to any skate purchase...

Kids would never buy it because it isn't light enough and it would be hard to make a living off of a small segment of the pro market only.

They should make it like armour on newer tanks, make a shell with explosives and when hit hard enough the explosives go off blasting the impact away from the tank... Would work perfect in skate form. ;)

You've obviously never worn a Kor skate. I routinely stick my feet out with no fear in those things. Horrible habit to develop but the boot is just that rigid.
