Canada vs Germany at IIHF world hockey championship.

Recommended Posts

I just saw the highlights of this game and it was a hard one for Canada...against Germany!?!

They still won but 2 things made me say "wow". First, Shea Weber's elbow on Seidenberg. You have to see that, it was a hard clothline at a high speed, the german guy was seeing stars. Dirty. Second was Robert Dietrich's goal, a slapshot from the neutral zone, almost from the red line that Roloson couldn't stop. It was not deflected and he had a clear view at it. Fun to see that professional players can make mistakes too.

I'll try to find a vid.

Funny thing is, Dietrich is 20 years old and last season he played in the 2nd division and this (just completed) season he played in the german elite league and played a hell of a season. Not that bad, this guy.

And for those who didn't notice, the Austria hockey logo is almost the same as the Caps Hilfiger logo, the bald eagle head.

A bit of topic but I didn't see the use of starting a whole new thread.

That was definitely a very dirty play. Pretty obvious he came across for the hip check and when Seidenberg cut back to the middle, Weber knew he was going to whiff on it and reached out with the arm, caught him with the elbow. Sort of reminds me of a lot of knee on knee hits when it's obvious a guy has instictively tossed his leg out after getting beat by someone cutting out to in.

Having said that, it definitely warrants a suspension, although I don't know about 3 games considering I'm not sure there was malicious intent there.
