Hockey Giant Coupon Code

I don't understand why any retailer would offer a 5% discount. By no means am I trying to sound like an ingrate, but seriously, 5%? Why even insult a consumer base? It's borderline silly.

I agree, completely.

But is saving $5 on every $100 spent going to make that big of a difference in the budget?

it adds up over time. $5 here, $1 there... it certainly adds up. If you keep track of all the money you save you'd notice that if you budget well and find good deals you will save a decent amount by the end of the year.

Exactly. Soon you can get a pro stock stick or some nice new gloves for literally just money you saved during the course of 5 months to a year.

No, I agree... a 5% coupon is just an insult. Nobody adds up the money they saved to buy gloves, you just end up spending it on dumb stuff like fast food or whatever. The way hockeygiant is raking in money with their ridiculous 'shipping + handling' charges, they should at least send out the periodic 15% coupon.

They've had better days with e-mail coupons, but the deals in the clearance section are absolutely fantastic sometimes. Especially the weekends. Hockeygiant sure does know how to work their business.

A while ago, there was a Buy On Get On Free deal on Vapor X blades and Vapor XV shafts. I ended up selling all of mine, but I should have gotten more.

How is it an insult? Is it an insult for them to not give you any percent off? If you consider 5% off an insult, I'd hate to know what you thought of paying sales tax.

And of course most people won't actually save that 5% they would have spent in a jar just to buy a new stick or something... But it still adds up, you may not literally keep track but if you did you would see that a few bucks here and there does add up in your bank account.

Imagine if everyone offered you 5% off...

Now how much money did you spend last year? Take 5% off of that and see how much money you would have saved.

No one ever argued that shipping from HG is cheap and most of the time it's not fair BUT no one ever told you that you had to buy from hockeygiant. You could always go to your LHS.

Oh I agree, going elsewhere is the choice. However, my point is that HockeyGiant charges quite high prices for shipping, which many people don't even factor into the price of an item before they hit the checkout, and somehow trying to help defer that with a 5% off coupon is minimal at best. If someone offered you M&Ms and you accepted, then gave you 1, what would you think?

I guess it depends how much you like M&Ms.

When you order hockey gear offline, its a given that shipping is going to be kinda expensive. So much hockey gear is either heavy or an oblong shape. To offset that, HG does give free shipping on some expensive orders, over $150 or something. Hell even if you order a pair of gloves, (not that heavy) they gotta fit them into a huge box, which makes shipping costs higher.

so if you buy a $400 pair of skates..and they offer you $20 off .you say nah..nevermind..not worth it?

But how often will this be applied to $400 skates compared to relatively small purchases of $20-$30?

And I'm not saying I wouldn't take it, I'm saying it's a disgrace that they don't try to offer more off - 5% doesn't even cover tax, let alone shipping here.

Some of you guys make it sound like free shipping and/or no tax is a god-given right.

Furthermore, when a smaller e-tailer like EWH charges a handling fee, nobody bats an eyelid but it's bloody murder when a big one does. If you're insulted by the 5%, don't use the coupon.

If retailer X and retailer Y have the same prices, charge the same for shipping, and one has a 5% off coupon, guess which one I'm ordering from. Looks like their 5% off coupon just got them a sale. How insulting and shame on them.

Using that same logic then, isn't it just a bit ironic that the "small e-tailer" like EWH (in this particular case) can offer free shipping at $100, but an E-GIANT such as HockeyGiant (in this case) has to get at least $150 from a sale to cover free shipping?

I know, I know...HockeyGiant has more overhead, they are bigger, more employees...etc, etc, etc., but they also deal in way more volume - THUS - better shipping rates from shipping vendors. Trust me, I see it in my own business, so I know where the shipping breaks are.

And whoever mentioned not using the code - that's really what it comes down to. No harm, no foul. I don't care to ever do business with Hockeygiant, so it wouldn't effect me one way or another.
