Back Problem

Recommended Posts

Heres the problem. I have a game tonight, but i started having back spasms on July 4, but now i have a game 5 days later and my back is still a little soar. I need to be ready for this game tonight, but i cant play well if my back is acting up. I have tried soaking my back in a bath tub, back wraps, and rest, but i need to be ready. Is there any way to do some stretches or anyway to speed up th recovery process?

I dont think there is anything you can do that will help within 5 hours except advil or tylenol or something. When i hurt my back last year I found that when i stretched it out it felt really nice. The key is to keep strething it so it doesnt tighten up when your on the bench or anything.

I just took Ibuprofen and it helped a lot. Don't want to rely on painkillers, but they can help.

You have to get a prescription on those(unless they changed) cause I had a bunch left over when I got some teeth pulled out, but they do work.

i would say toe touches keeping your arms and back straight. while standing, lean back and keep your arms straight, try to touch elbows.

NOTE: your elbows will not touch, but you will see it stretches your back

tiger baums pretty good...kinda reminds me of ear wax n plus it smells like ass haha. i find A535 is pretty good. but like ppl said, you just gotta keep stretching it out. another good idea to help out ur back in the future is to do crunches, as the muscles in ur abs wrap around to your back, so strengthening those will help keep ur back from getting injured, or so i've heard

I had back probelms (mainly spasms) for over 2 months last spring and I would be very careful about playing in your situation if they are persisting. Back spasms can occur as the result of a more serious injury (in my case, they thought it was a sprain) then your back muscles become over fatigued and inflamed because they are trying to make up for lack of support somewhere else. The only thing you can really do to help it heal at that point is rest. I made the mistake of trying to play again after about 3 weeks. I felt about 90% better but they came right back that night. I ended up sitting out another 4-5 weeks and at the reccomendation of a doctor, I was doing regular stretching to try to keep the muscles loose.

 I'm with Jay on this one. Unless they are paying you millions of dollars to play it is best to give your body ample time to heal. Heat(hot shower, hot water bottle or heating pad) incresaes circulation to the injured area, thus speeding up recovery. GENTLE stretching of the affected area (wait 48 hours from the injury) is also important to maintian range of motion and flexability. Anti-i9nflammatory (Advil, Ibuprophen, Alieve, etc) helps with pain and decreases inflammation. Bost most importantly do not rush back in until the injury is healed lest you extend the injury or cause permanent damage.

Maybe in Canada..but here in the US, Ibuprophen (Advil, Midol) is sold over the counter....

For immediate relief..accupuncture can be amazing...also some Chiropractor's can do wonders with a good massage and adjustment..but better make sure you do not have any serious medical problems beyond just being "sore"...out of position disks, torn muscles etc.
