My first tapered shaft... recommendations?

Recommended Posts

I am an adult player playing wing currently using a cyclone 95 flex (older/broken-in so more flexible) with a wooden blade slightly recurved. Smaller hands so that the thinner Easton cyclone fits nicely.

Have already picked up a wooden R-2 blade that i will recurve.

Now i need to get the tapered shaft. Any suggestions? looking for durability plus that smaller diameter or shaping.

thanks!

I recently picked up a Synergy II after getting the feel for a bunch of other standard/tapered shafts at the LHS. I have smaller hands too and this felt the best to me.. the dolomite was good as well, they just didnt have the flex i wanted.

I would recommend the Synergy II or Dolomite like he said or the TPS R2XN10, which may be a little harder to find. Go to a shop and just feel around, see what feels best to you.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Warrior Dolomite, and I had terrific experiences with all of the old tapered Inno 1100s (esentially the same things) I had. A number of members (Chadd springs to mind immediately) have given rave reviews of the TPS R2XN10; personally, I can't say I've used 'em, but if they perform anything like the shaft on the XN10 OPS, you won't be disappointed.

look for a rounded shaped shaft because it will feel closer to the smaller shaft shape you're used to.

The R2 Xn10 is a great shaft, but may give you issues due to the shaft shape. I found the Dolomite's best for smaller hands, with the L-2 not being bad either.

Easton makes boxy shafts. TPS R2 and the Mission L2 are the smallest shaft diameter I have griped

I have an L-2, and I can attest that it fits small hands, because it's way too small for mine. I have to add grip to it to make stop torquing around in my hand when I shoot. The boxy-er Easton shafts work better for me.

As long as we're talking about tapered shafts:

COMPLETE shot in the dark (I'm 90% certain I will receive exactly zero responses in the affirmative, but I suppose it's worth a shot, eh?) - does anybody here know where I could find some old tapered Inno Novius shafts (right handed, either red or that beautiful white, 300 flex preferable, but I could go to 380 or maybe bite the bullet and start using 260s). It's been awhile since I was able to get my hands on some, and it's been just as long since I've played with sticks I loved so much. I'd LOVE to stock-up on about 5 or 6 if I can find some...they catch is that they all have to be the same (color, flex, shaft shape, etc.).

Google searches keep digging-up results from some Euro sites, but I can't justify spending well over $150-per for shafts when I could get a bunch of XN10 OPS (*drools*) for $80-a-pop.

i found that easton synergy II and the rbk shafts have a boxy shape. the R2 armors are pretty boxy too imo.

If you can find an R2 or an R2xn10 they probably as close to a cyclone as you will get. Same goes for a Dolomite.

Didn't think this was worthy of a new topic:

I broke both my shafts playing in a tournament this weekend.

I'm really intrested in picking up the xxxLite tapershaft or maybe the one90 shaft. Greatskate say's May delivery, anybody have a take on how soon that will be? (early or late May?)

Am especially intrested in the one90 because of the tactile grip, dislike strong grip coatings and I have to tape none grip-sticks.

Don't have any sticks atm, but would rather borrow one for a week, and then buy the one90/xxxLite shaft, than buy a new one shaft this week. But if it's like 4 weeks I have to wait, then I'll be forced to buy something else because of a big tournament later this month.

To make a long rant short... Anybody know when the one90 shaft will hit stores?

I've had an L-2 for the past few months and like it. It fits well in my hands, although it's pretty square in shape.

Same thing about the Dolos though, I know a couple of people who have them and they seem to like them.
