Bauer Vapor xix

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Awsome site have just joined and as you can see in my avator I have been bought a pair of vapor xix's for my seventeenth birthday my parents let me take a pic and that was it theyve been hidden.

I was just wondering what they skate like Im coming from a pair of RBK 4Ks that never fited right but these fit perfect.

Wondered what your experiences were with them? :)

Thanks in advance

Welcome!

One quick lesson to learn at MSH is the use of the search function. Searching will provide you with MANY opinions on skates, and the XIX is no exception. As far as others have told me, it is a very solid performing skate. As a comparison to the 4Ks...it will most likely be a little lighter and a little stiffer in terms of feel. The XIX will also be a narrower last than the 4K.

Enjoy your new skates!

I have a pair of the XIX. I'm quite happy with them as I came from a pair of Tacks that didn't fit quite right. They seem fairly well made, no complaints there. I don't like the liner compared to the XXX but hey, it's a step down. Other than the liner I can't find anything that would justify buying the XXX other than having XXX on the top.

I love my XIX's, but I've only owned two pairs of skates. So my opinion isn't worth much.

I did a search for "+vapor +skates" and found that the XIX's were well regarded.

If they fit your feet, you should be very happy with them.

The skates are almost like the xxx, even in weight. I did notice that the toecap is a little widder in the XIX. Performance wise, these skates will be good for lighter players or teenagers because higher end models are probably too stiff unless you play in midget or junior AA or AAA hockey.

The skates have a grip liner which I personnally prefer to the Hydrophobic Clarino liner. The grip liner makes me have more control in my skating because my feet don't budge.

I recommend you get some protectoe for the toecaps since they are real fragile. 2 layers should be applied 48 hours apart.

A great bang for your buck. I hope you enjoy them. Oh yeah and welcome to the site!

Coming from Rbk 4k skates, the pitch on the XIX is less aggressive. As a result, you may feel as if you're on your heels when skating. Skate on the XIX's and decide whether or not to correct the pitch (keep it same, install heel lift, etc.).

Uh, Ls2 and E-pro are supposed to have the same pitch.

Correct...same pitch. Only difference would be rocker, but not by much.... 9' vs 10' most likely.

you can definitely feel the difference in rocker. I came from prolites to LS2 recently and it's a big difference.

I believe the ProLite was 11'. Please correct me if I am wrong, so it would make more sense for you to have noticed that difference.

The rocker is one of the reasons why I just have a hard time with the E-Pro. I have to get them profiled after every two or three sharpenings because I lose the 9' profile with the lack of top quality sharpeners that know how to work with rockered steel. People here have certainly lost their touch. I used to have a guy who did a phenomenal job profiling and sharpening...but he is losing his eyesight and can't even get the skate lined up with the stone to give me even edges. It sucks.

that sucks! I feel for you man, my regular sharpener is a good one but some of his co-workers aren't as good... and forget going to any other LHS around here to get a good sharpening.

The prolite was a 11 foot? I thought it was the same all around(besides design) as the e-pro... guess you learn something new everyday. Thanks.

What do you mean buy this??

Vapors are made narrower than the RBK/CCM skates. That's all. Just like running shoes, some are built different than others, longer, shorter, wider, more narrow.
