Light skate?

Recommended Posts

The difference between skates like the Vector and the Vapor XX is only a couple of grams. There's no way a couple of grams will improve your play. Get the skate that fits best regardless of the weight.

I believe the Vector Pro's are currently the lightweight champs. But like Chadd said, the difference between the weights of the top-end skates is barely noticeable and will not affect performance.

Absolutely, always choose the skate that fits the best for your foot. Not just the best that fits out of the top 3 lightest either, the best fit of any skate you try. Don't be sucked in by the whole weight thing. Trust me, your skates may feel light in your hand but they'll feel like they weigh 5 pounds each in a game if they don't fit just right. Wheras you'll have all kinds of energy if they fit right and don't give you any problems.

Also, you really need to evaluate what is most important for you. The lighter skates, for the most part, do not seem to have most durability. It seems that durability is sacrificed for lightweight.

The Vector Pro's are the lightest skate if you ask CCM because they wiegh a size 7.5 skate. But if you ask Bauer they'll say their Vapor XX is lightest because CCM should've used a size 8 like they did with the Vapor XX. Also, the z-air comp '04 are very light too.

However a CCM 7.5 fits the same as Bauer 8 in most cases. So that's actually a correct comparison.

The SyNergy skate is lighter then anything on the market by far. I know, I've weighed most all of them!

By far? How much lighter could you really make skates? Or should I say, how much of a benefit would it be to make skates that are lighter than the VPros and XX's?

Absolutely, heck, I wear a size 7.5 CCM (vector pro) and a 9 in bauer...

in what bauer skate do you wear a 9? just curious.....i've probably sharpened them, although i only remember seeing your z-airs and vector pros.....

I had a pair of 6000 in 9. I don't think you were working yet though...

basically...synergy skates weigh about as much as the stick...somethin like 200-250 grams less than XX. so theyre a little more than a negligable difference.

Since we are kind of on the topic of sizes. I have easton ultra lites, from about 3 years ago. size 9.5D What would this equal to in other skate companies? Iam just wandering because I'am getting new ones this year. Thanks.

They still aren't on the market yet, and no independant opinions have yet been offered so it's a bit hard to factor them in to the mix. Add to that the rumored/expected cost and it's even less of a viable option.
