Differences between Vapor XXX and XXXX

Recommended Posts

At my LHS the difference in price between the Vapor XXX, and the Vapor XXXX is a mere $30. The difference between the Vapor XXXX and the NBH One90 is $70. Looking at price alone, are the Vapor XXXX, much better then the XXX, and not as good as the One90's ? Kinda a noobish question, but it was on my mind.

my understanding is that NBH added a heel lock / tendon guard system to the XXXX that the XXX doesn't have.

a friend of mine says that the XXXX it a ton more comfortable than the one90.

Yeah, it's called "more padding." :)

New upper design of the XXXX was crafted to be more durable...who knows if this will turn out to be true or not. Other than that, the toe cap and padding not much is different. XXX's were $347 at Philbrick's last I checked.

As far as the difference between the XXXX and one90, they have different fits. Both are light IMO and they're both top of the line skates.

I was recently looking at skates and called to get the price and was quoted at $357 plus $10 off for first time customers. It's a good deal for someone who wants XXX's.

the vapor xxx's have better blades on them and the vap xxxx's look horrible

The VaporXXX and VaporXXXX have different holders/blades? I guess I didnt look that close when I was checking out the S15 at Westwood Sports last week and tried on the VaporXXXXs on a lark.

well instead of making a new topic ill just post the question here.

I have the Vapor XXX right now, and it's falling apart. Since the XXXX seems like a little step up from the XXX, how do the S15s compare to the XXXX. It might seem like an apples to oranges question, but how does it hold up?

From my personal experience: the XXXX was stiffer than the S15, XXXX fit deeper and was softer above the ankle area-the S15 is very high cut w/sharp edges, definitely recommend skipping the top eyelet. The S15 was lighter and the boot was more comfortable than the XXXX in the mid and forefoot. XXXX comes with the LS2 holder, which IMO is much nicer than the RB2. I know some guys with the S15's and they have held up fine in the first month.
